This is the fifth beta for iOS 15, the new operating system for iPhone and iPad which aims to streamline existing features from iOS 14.
When Is IOS 15 Released?
This latest IOS 15 public beta and developer beta went live on August 10, 2021.
There is no definitive date yet for the full complete release of the operating system, however typically the fall time Apple Event is held mid-September, and new Apple software is often released the day after. Consequently, mid-September is a likely time for the IOS 15 release date. We certainly expect to see IOS 15 released before the end of September.
Back Up Before Installing IOS 15 Beta
Any Beta software naturally comes with instability, therefore if you intend to download and install the Apple iOS 15 Beta, first make sure all the data on your device is sufficiently backed up.
In order to do this, you need to go to where the backups are automatically saved on your device and archive the latest iOS 14 backup.
If you are installing iOS 15 Beta on an iPhone: open iTunes > Preferences > Devices. Click on your most recent backup and select Archive. This will prevent it from being overwritten.
If you are installing iOS 15 Beta on an iPad: open Finder > Preferences > Devices. Click on your most recent backup and select Archive. This will stop it from being overwritten.
If iOS 15 then goes haywire on your device, you can enter it into Recovery Mode and restore the archived iOS 14 backup.
How To Download The iOS 15 Public Beta & How To Install The iOS 15 Public Beta
To download and install the iOS 15 Public Beta you must first sign up on the Apple Beta Software Program (if you have enrolled in a previous year, all you need to do is sign in to the same account). Read and accept the agreement if you are happy with it, then follow the below steps to download and install the iOS Beta:
If you have another iOS Beta profile installed (either an older version or the developer profile) first remove this from inside Settings > General > Profile.
Sign in (to the same Apple account that you registered with the Apple Beta Software Program)
Download and install the profile.
On your device, go to Settings > General > Profile
Select iOS 15 & iPadOS 15 Beta Software Program and tap Install.
Following the installation, you should be prompted to restart your iPhone – do so.
Open Settings > General > Software Update and the Public Beta should be visible.
Select Download and Install then follow the instructions of the installation wizard (the installation process may take some time).
How To Download The iOS 15 Developer Beta & How To Install The iOS 15 Developer Beta
If you want to install the iOS 15 developer beta, you must first become a registered iOS developer. To do this you will need to go to http://developer.apple.com/, click on Member Center then sign in with your Apple ID. Next, you must navigate to the Apple Developer Agreement, read and agree to it, and then finally submit it. This should turn your Apple ID into a developer account. Then, follow the below steps to download the iOS 15 developer beta:
Click on Downloads, scroll down to the iOS 15 beta, tap Install Profile.
Click Accept on the prompt that should appear, asking if you want to download a profile.
Head to Settings on your device and select Profile Downloaded at the top of the list. Alternatively, go to General > Profile and tap on the iOS beta profile.
Select Install in the top-right to install the iOS 15 beta profile.
Read and Agree to the developer consent form (assuming you do).
Restart your device to finish installing the beta profile.
When the device has restarted, head to Settings and then General > Software Update.
The iOS 15 beta should now be visible. Select Download and Install, and wait for the update to download.
When the pop-up prompt appears, select Install and follow the instructions of the installation wizard (the installation process may take some time).
