The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is an extremely fast desktop processor that belongs to the Raphael series. It has 8 cores that are based upon the Zen 4 architecture that supports hyperthreading (16 threads).

In all instances, it was the Ryzen 7 7700X went toe-to-toe with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which is significantly faster in L3 cache, which significantly increases the performance of CPU gaming.

Which was as the FPS winner will depend on the game. But generally speaking, it was the Ryzen 7 7700X that edged out every chip we examined in the tests, with the Core I9-12900K winning in Cyberpunk 2077 as well as Total War: Warhammer III however, even there it was extremely close.

The most noteworthy feature that this Ryzen 7 7700X is how it can perform just as well against chips that have the same or greater TDP.

Throughout the entire test session with the 7700X model, it topped out its capacity at 121.222W and in a way was comparable to Ryzen 9 5950X. Ryzen 9 5950X, which required 144.895W when it was at its highest.

Even more problematic is the Core I9-12900K which was able to outperform that of the Ryzen 7 7700X by about 18%, but its maximum power consumption was 251.61W which is more than twice that of the Ryzen 7 7700X’s peak power consumption.

The bottom-line part is while the 7700X may be battling superior processors to draw, or at the least an impressive fight against defeat, however, it’s using less energy.

What GPU bottlenecks Ryzen 7 7700X?

Low-end GPUs will bottleneck the Ryzen 7 7700X. But even the RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6600 XT will be bottlenecks for the CPU. The CPU is a much higher tier and won’t unlock its full potential with those graphics cards.

This means any other entry-level cards as the RTX 3050 and RX 6600 are also poor performers for the processor. As all the work will be on the GPU and especially at higher resolutions.

On the other hand, the high-end graphics cards will be too powerful for the processor itself. So something like the RX 7900 XTX or RTX 4090 are too powerful.
