How to connect AirPods to PS4? Before you try to find out how to connect AirPods to PS4, you should first know whether it is even possible to connect AirPods to PS4.
Well, technically, the PlayStation 4 does not support Bluetooth audio. However, there’s a workaround that lets you connect your AirPods to PS4 by using a third-party Bluetooth adapter.
Wondering how that works? In this guide, we will share all the steps involved in connecting AirPods to PS4. So read on!
How to Connect AirPods to PS4?
To connect AirPods to PS4, you will first need a Bluetooth adapter that can be plugged into your console via the headphone jack or USB, and that supports audio. Once you have your hands on a PS4 Bluetooth adapter and have made sure that your AirPods are charged, follow these steps to connect your AirPods:
Step
Connect the Bluetooth Adapter
Plug in the Bluetooth adapter to your PS4 via USB or headphone jack.
Step
Put the Adapter Into Pairing Mode
Put your Bluetooth adapter into pairing mode by checking its pairing instructions. The lights on your Bluetooth adapter will start blinking when it’s in pairing mode.
Step
Press and Hold the AirPods Syncing Button
Open your AirPods case with the AirPods inside it, and press and hold its back button. Hold the button down until the lights on the Bluetooth adapter stop blinking. This indicates that your AirPods are now paired with the adapter.
Step
Check Your PS4 Audio Settings
Go to Settings > Devices > Audio Devices to check whether your PS4 audio is playable on your AirPods.
Step
Change Audio Devices Settings
In the Audio Devices settings, set Headphones Connected to Controller as the output device. Next, set the Output to Headphones to All Audio.
Now that you are done, the audio from your PS4 will play on your AirPods. So go ahead and test it out!
Luckily, unlike using AirPods on the PS5, the PS4 makes it a far easier process. Despite the fact that PS5 is a better console overall, the PS4 still has the edge concerning open usage of non-Sony technology.
We aren’t sure why Sony has elected to make it more difficult on the PS5, but it’s probably something they deem a security concern. However, we have a sneaking suspicion that it’s a not-so-subtle tactic to coax people into buying and using only their licensed peripherals.
