Wondering how to use Discord on PS5? You can now hook up your Playstation 5 to Discord and get up and running with a few simple steps. But, you might have to wait a little bit longer if you’re outside the US. As announced in a recent blog post on Discord’s website, the service has teamed up with Sony to bring you the best possible communication software that you’re also able to use between several devices, ranging all the way from your mobile devices, desktop PCs, and now, finally, show off your status on the PlayStation 5.

How to check if you can use Discord on PS5

Firstly, this staggered rollout will be happening for users to US Discord users only, You will be able to find whether or not you can connect your PlayStation account by heading to:

  • User Settings
  • Connections

If you cannot find this option yet, you will not be able to use Discord on your PlayStation 5. However, you should keep checking in on this period as this is a staggered rollout, and will begin to periodically whitelist users starting with the US, and soon moving worldwide if proven successful.

How to connect your Playstation Network (PSN) account to Discord

If you are lucky enough to be eligible to connect your Discord Account to Playstation Network, you just need to follow these simple steps to ensure that you can use your account and get everything up and running properly. We’ve listed all of the simple steps that you need to follow below:

  • Go to ‘User Settings’ then ‘Connections’ on Discord on desktop or web, you cannot do this via the app right now.
  • Here, if you are elegible (see above), you will be able to find a PlayStation icon.
  • Click this button and log in to your Playstation Network (PSN) account.

After you’ve done this, your PlayStation Network account will now be linked with Discord. Additionally, there should be a handful of new options that you are able to explore. You can set ‘Display on Profile’ for Discord users to be able to find your Playstation Network account, and also ‘Display Playstation Network as your status’ to show people what you’re playing.

To ensure that other users on Discord can see what you’re playing, you will also need to set up your PSN Privacy settings to ‘Anyone’ for PSN online status and Now Playing. Do that over on the PS5, and you should be all set and ready to go, with Discord integration to your PlayStation Network account.

Remember, this won’t add integration for voice functionality just yet and is limited to US Discord members only. We will be sure to update this page as and when the full functionality is up and running in the future.

Can I use Discord to party chat with people on PS5?

Right now, there is no way of using voice chat with people on Discord and Playstation 5. Right now, you are only able to chat with users using either Discord or Playstation 5 party chat. There is no cross-communication between platforms outside of the current integration that Discord has begun to roll out to US users.
