Anyone after a simple yet addictive game? Perhaps you’ve dabbled with web games on and off over the years and come across something called Frog Fractions.

Well, good news. The classic web game, Frog Fractions has been reborn in a brand new Steam release. This award-winning game has been remastered in 4K to bring a bit of nostalgia into the modern gaming world.

First announced earlier this summer, Frog Fractions was just released on August 3rd on Steam. It’s totally free to play and barely takes up any room when you download it. It’s definitely worth checking out – just be warned, it’s weirdly addictive.

In Frog Fractions, you begin playing as a frog sitting on a lily pad. Your job is to eat as many bugs as possible to stop them from eating your fruit. If you can protect your fruit, you get to collect it.

As you progress, the game introduces upgrades that you can purchase with the fruit, should you want to take your bug-eating to the next level. These upgrades include switching out your humble lily pad for a turtle which allows you to float back and forth to better defend your fruit. You can also upgrade to lock-on targeting for your enemies, a cybernetic brain and also a flying dragon. Once aboard the flying dragon, it makes it all the more easier to dodge the projectiles fired by enemy insects.

There are also DLCs to purchase if you feel like upgrading as well as the upgrades within the game. For the ultimate frog experience, you can purchase a hat for your frog so you can zap bugs in style.

Another element of the game switches the click-to-eat mechanic with a typing exercise. Instead of clicking, you will need to quickly type out the word attached to each bug. This initially seems like it’d be a good little game for kids who want to practice typing. However, be warned, this game gets quite weird fast. You’ll end up switching the pond out for various environments including a courthouse, an underwater lair and a pornography business.

Overall, it’s a fun (and bizarre) little game if you’re looking for something lightweight to pass a few minutes here and there. Have you ever played Frog Fractions or other browser games? Will you be picking up this game? Let us know in the comments.
