As the GPU shortage starts to come to an end, NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 GPU pricing seems to be dropping for the first time since launch. At certain retailers, you can now buy an RTX 4090 or RTX 4080 for lower than their MSRP.
The world’s fastest GPUs, powered by Ada Lovelace, have been a tough swallow for any potential consumer. They hit shelves for over $1,000 and continued to rise in price as eager buyers consumed all available stock. However, that didn’t stop people from continuing to buy the new GPUs at even more extortionate prices – with eBay becoming the playground for both ex-miners and scalpers.
As we make our way through April, we are starting to see the decline on some of the market’s more reputable RTX 4090 & 4080 models. For the first time since launch, we’re actually seeing prices drop below MSRP, making (dare I say it) some of the latest RTX 40 series GPUs good value for money.
RTX 4090 price drop
According to WCCFTech, Newegg US was the first retailer to slash prices on the RTX 4090. The flagship GPU from NVIDIA was said to drop down to $1549 – $50 below that of the MSRP.
This is the first time since the GPU launched that we’re seeing prices this low. As you can imagine, the GPU has already gone out of stock since the price cut went live.

When looking at the GeForce RTX 4080, there are a number of US retailers that are showcasing excellent prices on various models. At present, you can get several RTX 4090 models for $1149 – the lowest price this card has been since its launch.
The MSRP for this GPU is $1199 – making the deals available $50 cheaper than launch price.
