How to Unlock the Secret Lower Temple Level in Minecraft Dungeons

Minecraft Dungeons’ first DLC pack, Jungle Awakens, is now available and features a surprise that should please fans of the Minecraft-themed dungeon crawler – a secret level.

Although the game picked up generally positive reviews, one criticism was a limited slate of content and a lack of depth to the story mode. Players blazed through everything the game had to offer rather quickly.

The paid Jungle Awakens expansion update introduces a new secret level, dubbed the Lower Temple, that was axed from the game before it launched back on May 26th. Better yet, the new level is free; there’s no need to lay down cash for the DLC to access it.

Alongside the Lower Temple, developer Mojang Studios has also introduced a bunch of new free features including a new threat level per difficulty that unlocks higher-powered gear and challenges for the end-game content, and new gear in the form of the Battlestaff and Dual Crossbows. Both come in two unique versions.

How To Unlock the Lower Temple?

Now, for the all-important question of how to unlock the Lower Temple. A few hoops need jumping through, but nothing a seasoned Dungeons player can’t handle.

Firstly, you’ll need to visit the Desert Temple level and charge through it until you reach the first checkpoint by the supply point. From there, pick the golden key and open the corresponding gate. Once you reach the four-way intersection, take a left. Interact with the three columns scattered around the chambers. Doing so will open a draw bridge to a scroll. The scroll will unlock the Lower Temple into the world map for you to access at will. It’s located opposite the Desert Temple and to the left of Highblock Halls.

If you’re craving new Minecraft Dungeons content, Jungle Awakens includes three new missions, a brand new Jungle area to sink your teeth into, new game mechanics, items, and challenges. As for the story, here’s the official description published for the launch of the Jungle Awakens DLC pack:

”Remember The Orb of Dominance? If you don’t, no biggie. It was just one of the most powerful and wicked artifacts the Overworld had ever seen, until some brave players managed to sell it to the Wandering Trader destroy it. Turns out that, even in broken form, the Orb of Dominance still has some of that dominance in it. One of its shards has found its way to a lush jungle, corrupting both the land and its inhabitants. Of course, it falls to you to get to the root of the problem, explore dense jungles, crumbling temples, and secluded bamboo forests, to save the day once more!”

It’s available on all launch platforms – PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. You can pick it up as a standalone purchase for $5.99 (alongside $19.99 for the base game), or as part of the Hero Pass for $29.99, Minecraft Dungeons’ take on an expansion-granting battle pass.

Mojang Studios has one other planned DLC pack on the way, but we’ve yet to hear much about that one just yet.
