GoldenEye 007 returns to our screens once more in a triumphant remaster coming out to updated consoles like Nintendo Switch and Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. With the move towards next-gen consoles from the original N64 title, is GoldenEye 007 remaster coming to PS5?

It’s unfortunate news, but no version of GoldenEye 007 remaster will be making it’s way to PlayStation 5. A sad day for Sony fans indeed
There’s no GoldenEye 007 PS5 remaster via PlayStation Plus, but that shouldn’t be unexpected news as Sony has never been a license holder of the original game (like Nintendo) or owner of the developer that made it (like Microsoft).
What systems is GoldenEye 007 coming out on?
There will only be two versions of the game coming out. However, these copies aren’t exactly the same.
The Xbox Series X|S version supports 4K resolution, 60fps, and split-screen multiplayer, yet the Nintendo Switch port will not support this – only widescreen resolution and split-screen. However, it will include online multiplayer.
Rare, now being a subdivision of Xbox Game Studios, makes this distinction fairly strange. However, it is surely to be chalked up to the complication of a three-way licencing issue.
So, that’s it unfortunately, Xbox and Switch only. Sorry PS5 fans!
How do you get 007 on a Switch?
You’ll need to be subscribed to Switch Online’s $50-a-year Expansion Pack tier to access GoldenEye and other N64 games.
Is GoldenEye coming to Rare Replay?
Yes it is. The game will free to download for owners of the Rare Replay collection that was previously released in 2015. The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack release is an emulated version of the original game and boasts online multiplayer exclusive to the platform.
