Fresh Rumors Suggest Sony Is Gearing To Announce A PS5 Silent Hill Reboot Next Month

An industry insider suggests that Sony is gearing up to announce a Silent Hill reboot destined for the next-gen PlayStation 5 sooner rather than later.

The grapevine has spawned multiple rumors in recent times, with initial speculation suggesting that Konami was behind a reboot. The publisher quickly squashed these, but this didn’t stop the rumblings, which then pointed to Sony taking the reins on the project.

In particular, a known industry insider using the moniker Dusk Golem offered details of what was in store. The game will reportedly be a soft reboot from Sony Japan Studios with new features that will stick to the Silent Hill name with no accompanying numbers to draw a line in the sand with past entries in the franchise. They say that they’ve heard this from multiple sources with knowledge of the project, although unsurprisingly they stopped short of offering more details about these sources.

Now, another insider, named KatharsisT, has seemingly confirmed Dusk Golemn’s words courtesy of a post on the Resetera gaming forum. Speaking of the rumors, the insider notes that an announcement would happen sooner rather than later, with some fairly obvious hints pointing to the month of May as a likely candidate.

When asked to back up his claims, the insider noted that they were more than happy to stand by their word and be dragged under the bus if the rumors proved to be false.

As is so often the case, without official confirmation from Sony, we can neither confirm or disprove the rumors. As such, we recommend approaching this latest nugget with the requisite amount of skepticism and taking it with a hefty dose of salt to avoid disappointment.

Yet, as they say, there’s no smoke without fire, and multiple rumors from reputable sources do suggest that something Silent Hill flavored is brewing.
