We’re only a couple of days away from launch now, so knowing all you can about the Resident Evil 4 Remake preload is key. Knowing all about it, from its file size, to the timings, and to whether you’ll be adding to it with a day one patch as well, can make preparing for a big release easier, or at least more clear.

What we can report straight away here is that there are differing preload times for each platform, and varying pre-load file sizes too, so make sure you read on to get the pertinent information that’s relevant to what you’re going to be playing the game on.

Resident Evil 4 Remake preload date and time

In terms of a specific time we’re looking for Resident Evil 4 Remake preloads to start or become available technically we’ve already passed that. And that’s because one platform has made preloads available now. So we’ve crossed some form of threshold on the matter.

Leading the way is Microsoft: Xbox Series X and S players can fully preload the game right now and get prepared. You can do this on your console natively, so to speak, or even though the app on your phone if you wish to. Either way, you guys can preload Resident Evil 4 Remake now.

For those on PlayStation, if you pre-order on PS5 or PS4, you should see a prompt or notice that says something about pre-loads being expected to begin on March 22nd – that’s tomorrow! So, you too can get your files downloaded and game ready to go if you are on a Sony-shaped console from this or the last generation.

PC folks, however, are going to have to wait for midnight on the day of launch and the Resident Evil 4 Remake release time itself by the looks of it which is, to confirm, midnight on March 24th 2023 (local time). At which point this would obviously not be pre-loading, and would just be ‘installing the game’…

Naturally, one of the best ways to get as early access to the game as possible is to nail down a Resident Evil 4 Remake pre-order for the platform and edition of your choice.

Resident Evil 4 Remake preload size

From what we’ve been able to find on the internet, and on the platforms in question it looks like we have differing, but broadly-similar preload file seizes for the Resi 4 Remake too. Cutting to it, on Xbox Series X and S, the file size is 67GB, on PlayStation 5 it’s 59GB or so (no word on PS4 though we’d wager it’s likely to be lower due to the PS5’s greater capability in pumping out 4K goodness), and on PC, we have no idea.

If you’re all set and ready to go (on Xbox), or all set and ready to get set and ready on PlayStation then why not read more on the game about the Resident Evil 4 Remake trophies which are now out in the wild, and check out that slightly mad Resident Evil 4 Remake anime trailer

Will there be a Resident Evil 4 Remake day one patch?

Yup! We already know that there will be a day one patch for the game as that’s been confirmed by the game’s director in an interview with Game Informer. Do we know any more about said patch? Absolutely not; we’ll have to wait and see how this pans out this week. After all, with the demo that was released last week, it may be that Capcom will be going right to the wire with the day one patch to fit all the fixes from feedback in.

If you’re looking for an answer to the is Resident Evil 4 Remake on Nintendo Switch‘ then brace yourself, but there’s slightly better news if you want to get Resident Evil 4 Remake on Steam Deck.
