Do any laptops have 4K resolution? Absolutely! However since the laptops with a 4K screen started showing in 2014, their value has been up for debate. Initially, there wasn’t much of a benefit of having a 4K laptop besides a slight advantage in photo editing, as 4K content wasn’t common, and the software at that time could not scale for the enhanced resolution properly.
There’s also a hardware demand involved for playing games or running video at 4K. So, the hefty premium is not just for a nice screen but also for the top-tier components.
But in 2024, things have changed a bit. Prices of 4K laptops have dropped slightly, and 4K content is now readily available on YouTube, Netflix, and other streaming platforms. The overall scale and support for 4K content have improved a lot. On top of this, the hardware neccessary to run laptops at higher resolutions has got more powerful. Still, users are skeptical, and they should be, as some 4K laptops can cost a small fortune.

Do gaming laptops have 4K resolution?
We would say, having a gaming laptop with a 4K display was impossible a few years ago: the reality is the core components (CPU and particularly GPU) were not powerful enough to run games at high enough FPS at 4K. On top of this, the refresh rates of 4K screens were usually capped at 60Hz, which is below what we’d class as required for a ‘gaming laptop’.
