AMD uses the suffix “XT” to designate their higher-end graphics processing units (GPUs). It is often used to distinguish two versions of a specific GPU, with the XT version being more powerful and featuring faster clock speeds. And indicates the card is the extreme version.

In general, AMD GPUs with the XT version usually boast more processing power and faster clock speeds than their non-XT counterparts. This can translate to higher frame rates and improved overall performance when playing games or other demanding applications.

Essentially, “XT” serves as an acronym to indicate that a particular graphics card is an enhanced version of its already powerful base model.

And now with the new RDNA 3 cards, there is a newer suffix. The introduction of the RX 7900 XTX is an even more extreme card at the top and far surpasses the 7900 XT.
