Intel are all ready and set to launch of the best CPUs to date, the i9-14900KS, which will replace the 14900K as their flagship model. And while the release date of the 14900KS isn’t yet clear, it must be soon on the way as a French retailer has already listed two variations of the new processor which are due to set you back a sizeable amount of cash, as expected.

Looking back to previous years, the 13900KS and 12900KS were released in January and April respectively, so it feels as if the 14th gen equivalent may show up any time now. The i9-13900KS retails for around the $630-$650 mark in the US right now, so we’re curious to see just how much more expensive the latest iteration will be.

Intel Core i9-14900KS listed on French retailer

While we haven’t yet spotted the 14900KS on US retailers, we can get a good look at how much it will cost for the European market, specifically from French retailer PC21. Well-known leaker @momomo_us posted on X (Twitter) with a screenshot of a couple of listings, revealing both boxed and tray variants going for sale, including their price.

  • Intel Core i9-14900KS tray price: €752.62 including tax
  • Intel Core i9-14900KS boxed price: €768.34 including tax

Converting that into USD will give you $811.11 and $828.05 respectively, though there is a considerable price drop when excluding tax – $675.77 and $689.89. These listings are very barebones at the minute, as they’re of course not in stock just yet – so we still don’t have a clear picture of the exact release date.

Will this launch reduce the price of Intel CPUs?

We don’t expect any big Intel CPU price drops as a result of the new launch, but Intel’s latest 14th gen line-up has slowly been reducing in price over time regardless. Over on Amazon, the current flagship i9-14900K is practically at its lowest price ever according to price tracking site CamelCamelCamel, at just under $545 compared to its $589 MSRP.

That frees up plenty of headroom for the KS to slot in above, and the price we already see listed in Euros points towards it being a considerable amount more. To compare, the 13900KS had an MSRP of $110 higher than the 13900K – a similar comparison may be made for the 14th gen iteration. $699 is what we’d expect for the 14900KS given the similar pricing structure so far, which is close to the converted prices when excluding tax.
