Those of you who’ve been waiting for a new addition to the gaming keyboard space, rejoice! The Razer Huntsman V2 analog has finally arrived. This could possibly be a game-changer as the addition of this rarely implemented key switch technology allows for far more incremental actuation. The addition of this granularity opens up wider control possibilities than were previously available on Razer’s keyboards.
Razer posted this tweet, describing how community feedback has helped them shape this new keyboard. This has been seen as a pleasant breath of fresh air as large companies have the propensity for myopia, often ignoring the consumer. The Razer Hunstman analog has been designed with the customer in mind, and there seems to be a growing market for analog key switches
Razer Huntsman mini analog: how do analog switches work?
Historically, keyboards have worked strictly digitally, meaning that there is no in-between, the switch is either pressed or not. This is advantageous, particularly for games that require rapid inputs, such as CS:GO. However, the advantages of analog are still worthwhile, as can be proven by the overwhelming popularity of controllers. Even as consoles continue to grow in terms of keyboard compatibility, there are still die-hard controller fans out there. The gifs below illustrate the difference in tactility.
Analog switches work by having a variable actuation point, so you can choose how far the key has to be pressed before it’s registered. Additionally, you can set multiple actuation points, meaning that a single key can perform two actions in one press. Razer’s analog switches can place the actuation points anywhere between 1.5 to 3.6mm.
When are the Razer analog switches available?
Right now! you can grab the Razer Huntsman Mini analog from all good retailers, including razer themselves. Be quick, however, as the Huntsman Mini is already a very popular keyboard, and this new addition will only increase its popularity.
