Viture One Glasses: The future of content consumption?

The Viture One Glasses have been causing quite a stir on the internet recently, thanks in no small part to their successful Kickstarter campaign.

The fledgling XR company initially launched its Kickstarter campaign with a funding goal of $20,000, this was reached within days and has since blown far past that figure to a massive $3m.

So, what are the Viture One glasses? what do they do, and how will they do it? Let’s take a closer look and see what we can find out.

What are the viture One glasses?

According to their extensively marketed Kickstarter page, the Viture One Glasses will “enable you to play AAA games or watch movies anywhere, anytime on a 5G/Wifi connection. “

From what we’ve learned during our research, it appears that the glasses will mirror whatever’s on the screen of your device of choice.

This could have some very tangible (heh) XR benefits. For example, you no longer have to be in a specific position to consume content, i.e. in front of a TV.

Those of you who’ve tried the PSVR will be familiar with this screen-mirroring technology. It’s a very convenient way of watching something.

We’re all familiar with the desire to watch TV or play video games, without having to move from the comfy spot you’ve already found.

If what Viture is saying turns out to be true, these glasses could fully satisfy that need, allowing you to consume content from any angle, anywhere.

How do the Viture One glasses work?

The glasses are essentially a mini streaming device with a screen that you wear on your head, meaning that they work similarly to the Meta Quest 3 and PSVR 2 in principle.

however, as these are supposedly as slim as sunglasses, chances are they won’t have quite the same capabilities, but they seem to be targeting a more casual market, so that doesn’t appear to be the focus.

According to Viture’s Kickstarter campaign, the Viture One Glasses release date is around October/November this year.

However, as with all crowdfunded projects, we recommend taking this with a medium to large pinch of salt, as delays are likely and we’ve all been burned by crowdfunding before.

Luckily, it would appear that Viture has learned from other kickstarted calamities and has publicly released most of the specs that people want to know about already, so we know what we might be getting.

• Pixel Density: 55PPD
• Effective screen size: 110-inch at a 3-meter apparent size
• Battery life: 2 hours games, 3 hours streaming video. 10 hours nonstop if connected to neckband and dock
• Refresh rate: 75Hz

As with the release date, don’t put too much stock into these specs as they could change a lot. We have nothing against Viture, but crowdfunding is never going to be the most reliable of systems.

On Viture’s Kickstarter page they state that they’ve “partnered with a prestigious speaker company”. which is a weirdly cryptic way of talking about it.

However, if you click around enough you can find where they actually say that the prestigious speaker company in question is Harman Kardon, which is a relief is Harman Kardon is actually a prestigious speaker company.

Anyway, the speakers will be positioned in a similar way to the Bose Frames and Razer Anzu glasses, with one speaker on either side in the arms of the glasses, positioned above the temple, aiming at the ear.
