ASUS has been one of the leading gaming peripheral brands for years, making some of the best headsets, keyboards, and mice for years now. so we thought it time to go over the best ASUS gaming headsets.
ASUS also likes to split its products into one of two sub-brands, the no holds barred RGB-tastic Republic of Gamers, more commonly known as ASUS ROG, and the more accessible, slightly utilitarian TUF line.
So, given that ASUS has been at it for a while, and we’ve been able to get hands-on with a lot of their headsets, we thought we’d take a look over their range and find the best ASUS gaming headsets out there right now.
We’ve also got something fun for those of you in the UK. If you’re quick, you can get a very limited-edition Gladius III, so take a look at the end of this page.
The best ASUS headset – ASUS ROG Delta S Animate
Of course, we had to start with our personal favorite, the ASUS ROG Delta S Animate, not only is it a fantastic headset in its own right but it’s got a great gimmick too.
That’s right, there is a grid comprised of 247 LEDs. All of these are individually addressable and can be programmed to do anything you want, aside from changing color.
Even though RGB lighting is all the rage these days, we’ve still got time for good old-fashioned white LEDs, especially when they can be switched on/off to display images or animations, dot matrix-style.
The ROG Delta S Animate is at the steeper end of the budget, but underneath the show-stopping, fancy dot matrix, it’s a super solid gaming headset too.
“ASUS ROG Delta S Animate is a standout in the world of gaming headsets. It boasts an excellent soundscape and build quality to match.”
But just because it’s our favorite, doesn’t mean you guys agree. Perhaps you don’t care for RGB or perhaps you want something more practical? Perhaps the ASUS TUF H3 wireless?
ASUS TUF H3 Wireless – The utilitarian choice
When we reviewed the ASUS TUF H3, we were struck by how practically it had been designed. There was nothing extraneous or frivolous, just a well-built, comfortable, and affordable wireless gaming headset.
Seriously, everything about it is utilitarian. Removable mic? No, but you’d probably keep it on anyway. RGB lighting? No, but you can’t see that stuff when you’re wearing it anyway.
This is made especially clear when you put the headset on, the comfort, weight, and fit are all about right. Yes, it’s not feature-packed, but in terms of giving you what you need at a great price point its a strong contender.
“The TUF H3 is a standout in the $100 price bracket, and boasts probably the best build quality we’ve experienced in this price tier.”
Understandably, you might not find utilitarianism to be an exciting adjective, so we’ll pivot and get talking about something a bit more extravagant. Perhaps some glowy RGB goodness? Perhaps the ASUS ROG Fusion II 500?
ASUS ROG Fusion II 500 – The RGB choice
The main problem with RGB lighting on gaming headsets, aside from not being able to see it when you’re using the damned thing, is that it usually precludes the headsets from being wireless. This is the case with the ROG Fusion II 500, but don’t worry, it’s got it where it counts.
One of the reasons we like ASUS products, specifically those from ROG, is they always seem to go the extra mile. We’ve yet to run into a brand that frequently includes a spare set of fabric earcups in the box, as is the case with the ASUS ROG Fusion II 500.
This isn’t the only reason we like the Fusion II 500, though. Aside from the front-facing RGB lighting, which looks particularly nice if you’re a streamer, it’s got it where it counts in terms of audio fidelity, build quality and comfort. Specifically audio fidelity, as the Fusion II 500 benefits from the ESS 9280 Quad DAC, allowing for lossless audio processing.
“We can’t argue against the build quality and broad soundscape of the Fusion II 500.”
The internal mics are a nice touch too, as we’ve slowly grown tired of having an external mic flapping around.
Though these internal mics are prone to interference and not ideal for the ultra-competitive gamers amongst you, for the average gamer, the loss in clarity is worth the streamlined design.
Anyway, let’s move on to ASUS ROG’s latest and greatest, the ASUS ROG Delta S Wireless.
The best all-rounder ASUS Headset – ASUS ROG Delta S Wireless
When we got our hands on the ASUS ROG Delta S Wireless, we got the feeling that it was a combination of the features that we’d seen in their previous headsets.
It’s got the same general design as the Delta S Animate, sans LED display, and utilizes AI Beamforming Microphones with AI Noise Cancelation taken from the FUSION II Series.
Additionally, ASUS continued the aforementioned trend of extra earcups, which was nice to see again. We also see a fun innovation where the USB Type-C dongle is stored within the headset, which is particularly ideal as those dongles are so easy to lose.
“It’s right up there in terms of immersive gaming headsets due to the comfort, low weight, and two sets of earcups.”
One of our favorite things about the ROG Delta S Wireless might surprise you, it wasn’t the design or sound quality, it was the configuration of the earcups.
The thickness of the ear cushions has a positive effect aside from comfort, it positions the dynamic drivers further away from your ears, which allows the soundscape to feel a lot wider, which makes the audio sound more true to life.
Best ASUS headsets – Final verdict
Luckily, rounding up our best ASUS headsets was fairly easy as ASUS makes headsets that cater to all price points, needs, and platforms.
The utilitarian and efficiently-design TUF H3 Wireless is perfect for the gamer who needs a robust headset that ticks all boxes and wastes no time on frivolities.
The ROG Delta S Animate is perfect for those of you who want to add a spot of flair to a gaming peripheral that usually isn’t all that interesting to look at.
RGB acolytes would prefer the Fusion II for its vivid lighting and perfect synch with any other ROG products you might have via Armory Crate.
Finally, we have the ROG Delta S Wireless, a strong choice for gamers who want a solid all-rounder of gaming but care not for extra, but like the premium touch that the H3 Wireless lacks.
ASUS Gladius III Wireless Ronin
ASUS recently ran a competition for one lucky fan to have their design brought to life on one of their best gaming mice, the Gladius III.
The winning design features an eye-catchingly cool Ronin design – perfect for hacking and slashing your way through Sekiro! The winning design can now be purchased through the ASUS store here.
