With the LG C3 looming large, we thought now was the perfect time to explore some of the key differences that separate the smaller LG C2 OLED TV variants.

For many, the only difference between the 48 inch and 55 inch C2 models is the size – but that isn’t the full story.

In this guide, we’ll be looking at the main differences found between the LC 2 48-inch and 55-inch models. Concluding with our thoughts on which you should buy, and why.

LG C2 OLED TV 48 inch vs 55 inch: Specifications

Looking at the TVs side by side, you’d have to say that they both stack up pretty similarly. Both feature; the brands latest EVO OLED panel technology, VRR (variable refresh rate technology), 120Hz refresh rate, and a blistering 0.1ms response time.

Alongside this, both offer the same external design, manufacturing materials, stand functionality, and inputs.

That said, there are some subtle differences.

For a start, the PPI (pixels per inch) does differ when comparing the two screens. Both of the panels feature a 4K UHD screen resolution – however, one is stretched across 55 inches while the other is only 48 inches.

This means that the 48-inch LG C2 OLED TV will offer tighter clusters of pixels – resulting in ever so slightly crisper image quality.

Is the LG C2 55 inch brighter than the 48 inch?

Additionally, there are some brightness differences that can be found when comparing the two panels.

While only subtle, the LG C2 55-inch does show higher levels of peak luminance – a factor that can be found when comparing older models of the TV.

Looking at respected reviewers within the industry – and comparing our own testing methods for the 48 inch vs 55 inch models – we found that the 55-inch model scored around 100 nits brighter than the smaller variant.

While this sounds relatively steep, you’ll only be able to notice this luminance variance when looking at them closely side by side.

All being said, regardless of which model you buy, you’ll be investing in an incredibly powerful OLED TV that should stand the test of time.
