If you’re looking to buy an RTX 4060 Ti and 4060 and considering potentially getting a couple of them, you may wonder can the RTX 4060 or RTX 4060 Ti do SLI. The technology lets you combine a couple of GPUs to combine their power to achieve a higher performance rate, but it does rely on certain other factors and isn’t a one-to-one scaling either.
And in short even the best GPU right now in the Ada range doesn’t have the ability to support SLI. The RTX 4090 is at the top of that range and so doesn’t support the feature and so neither does the RTX 4060 Ti or the RTX 4060. You won’t be able to pair up more than one to try and improve the performance of the power of your graphics as the technology is being left behind.

Why doesn’t the RTX 4060 or RTX 4060 Ti do SLI?
If you’re first wondering what is SLI, it’s a shortening of Scalable Link Interface. Created by 3DFX on the Voodoo lineup, Nvidia took over the company further down the line and reintroduced the feature in 2004. It allows two GPUs to be used at the same time and combined over an SLI bridge so they communicate not over PCIe bandwidth. Split frame and alternate frame rendering rate are the algorithms that work to combine the power of the two.
But the scaling of the performance is not as simple as you combine two cards and double what they do. In fact, SLI has to be implemented in-game, and so similar to DLSS it has to require development work. And with the state of release of some of those games now, it’s not really worth the time. Most games will target the lowest denominator, like the GTX 1060, not the niche top-end pick of two GPUs at the same time.
This overall means Nvidia doesn’t bother to waste time on the connector. So neither the 4060 Ti nor non-ti feature it as it’s not worth the effort of having it, and instead, it makes more sense to just buy one GPU at a higher level, like the RTX 4080 is more likely to have a better performance, although that might not be as cost-effective, it is more performance effective.
