There will always be a bottleneck in your system somewhere. So you won’t ever eliminate it but looking to pair up components, we look at what GPU bottlenecks the Ryzen 7 2700X.

The lowest resolutions will be the biggest drawback for the CPU bottlenecks. So 1080p is where the CPU matters most over the best graphics card.

Which GPUs bottleneck Ryzen 7 2700X

So the more powerful the GPU the more likely the CPU bottleneck is at lower res. And so for the 2700X, it starts with the RTX 3070. With any more powerful GPUs at the same result.

These will include up from the RX 6800 XT. With the new-gen as well leading to performance loss at low res. So you don’t really want to go that far back with your CPU for the shiny RTX 4090 or RX 7900 XTX.

Ryzen 7 2700X performance

The 2700X performance is nowhere near the 234 fps we experienced from the 5800X model which is an amazing 64% improvement in performance. It’s worthwhile to mention that the 10700K that’s essentially 9900K nevertheless 52% faster than the 2700X.

It wasn’t until we got to the resolution of 4K with the ultra-quality preset that the game was completely GPU limited with the four options.

However, it’s amazing just how slow 2700X is compared to other CPUs like the 5800X and 10700K when the CPU is restricted, with the highest resolution gaming card on the market.

In that regard, if you were to run the same tests using the RTX 2080 Ti, the margins would be less and would be a bit smaller when using a 1080 Ti.

Pros

A cheap basic alternative without any extras on top

Simple and basic design without any additions

Cons

Lower quality build with plastic builds

For example, the RTX 3070 limits performance at 1080p to 170 fps and lowers the difference between the 2700X and the 5800X to about 20%, or less than half what’s displayed in this. If you are using low-quality settings, such as 1440p or 1080p, it will allow for a wider margin even with a lower-end GPU.

2700X was lagging quite in 1080p. the result was that this time, the 5800X performed 41% better but it’s worth noting the difference was more when looking at the 1% lower performance, which jumped to 52% to the newest 5000 series.

The Core i7-10700K, which is in essence a 9900K was almost 40% more efficient when compared to a 1% lower performance.

The 5800X can be nearly 28% faster and this is huge, even though we can only observe an increase of 11% in comparison to the frame rate average. When you go to 4, the game is GPU constrained, which means that each of the four configurations gave the same results.

Which GPU is best for Ryzen 7 2700X?

There are plenty of GPUs you can choose to pair with the Ryzen 7 2700X. Even though this CPU is a few years old now, that doesn’t mean you can’t pick out some newer GPUs such as the RTX 3060 or 3060 Ti. You can also opt for the RX 6650 XT or RX 6700 XT.
