Do AirPods connect to HP laptops?

Although Apple products are most connective with each other, and gain the most functionality within the Apple ecosystem, you don’t need a MacBook in order to pair your AirPods to a laptop. The only requirement is that your laptop has a functioning Bluetooth connection.

Put AirPods inside charging case

Return the AirPods to their case, close the lid, and let them charge until they are at least 25% battery capacity.

Press the Setup Button

Assuming they are charged past the minimum point, open up the AirPods case after a few seconds and click the Setup Button on the rear of the case until a light is visible. On some AirPods the light can be seen on the inside of the case, on other models it’s on the outside.

Open the Settings Menu

Click on the Windows icon in the bottom left of your desktop toolbar to open up the Start Menu. Then click on the Settings Menu with the cogwheel symbol to open it.

Open the Devices menu

Once you have opened the Settings Menu, click on Devices.

Add Bluetooth or other device

Inside the Devices window which should now be open, select Bluetooth & other devices. In the menu that opens up, ensure Bluetooth is switched on with the slider and click Add Bluetooth or other device.

Click Bluetooth

In the Add a device pop-up window, click on Bluetooth.

Select AirPods

Select AirPods from the list and pray to your deity of choice.

Your device is ready to go!

If you are successful, a window should appear which states ‘Your device is ready to go!’ Click on Done and your AirPods should now be connected to your HP laptop. You should now be able to listen to any audio output from your laptop through your AirPods.

Connect Airpods to HP laptop: Troubleshooting

If the AirPods don’t appear as they should in step 7 or they simply refuse to connect in step 8, try the following:

  • Ensure your AirPods are fully charged up and that the Setup Button light is still activated.
  • Try repositioning the AirPods around your HP laptop and retrying the connection process.
  • See if you can connect other Bluetooth devices to your HP laptop to check if they work. If not, then the issue may be with the Bluetooth signal from the laptop itself.
