Asus Zephyrus G14 Notebook Announced at CES 2020

There have been plenty of exciting announcements at CES 2020 so far and we’re loving it so far!

One of the biggest pieces of news from CES 2020 is from Asus, who have announced that they will be releasing the first-ever 14-inch gaming laptop, named the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. Asus will be bringing the titanic names of AMD and NVIDIA together to create a powerful, yet compact, gaming system.

ZOG Laptop Specifications

This laptop is set to be configured with (up to) an AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS or up to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2060 with 6 GB GDDR5 memory, and Asus have also confirmed that they will also be supporting Adaptive Sync technology.

In terms of connectivity, the Asus Zephyrus laptop is also going to support Intel WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.0.

This 14-inch gaming laptop will have either a 60Hz or 120Hz full HD panel. Alternatively, it’ll have a 60Hz WQHD panel. It’s tipped to weigh in at just 1.6kg, and is ultrathin with just 17.9mm in thickness – all of this makes the Asus Zephyrus a formidable gaming laptop, especially for its size.

The Asus Zephyrus is going to enable its users to upgrade to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to 1 TB of M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 solid-state drive space. This is a feature we’re really excited about; A gaming laptop with the scope for customization, improvement, and future-proofing is a definite step forward as far as the platform as a whole is concerned. All of this is complete with a power key that features fingerprint locking technology, a great feature for those who have security heavy in their mind.

For the design-conscious among us, Asus is also offering the option to use LED lighting on the lip of the ROG, where users will be able to show off custom animations, colors or graphics. When you open the laptop, you will see a backlit chiclet-style keyboard with 1.7mm of key travel and N-key support. You can even choose from two colors, with the Asus Zephyrus available in either Eclipse Grey or Moonlight White.

The ports included are one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, which has DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery support. Aside from this, there is also an HDMI 2.0 slot, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port. Lots of connectivity options available then on the Asus Zephyrus, making it a very attractive, compact gaming laptop.

Switch From Intel To AMD

In what might be a surprise move, Asus announced that they are making the switch from Intel to AMD (adding to the slew of successful projects that AMD have been racking up recently). The ROG Zephyrus will be part of Asus’ brand new range of AMD Ryzen powered laptops, which includes two ROG Zephyrus models as well as two further models from the TUF gaming brand.

How Much Is It And Where Can I Buy One?

This is (so far) a brand new release announcement, so as far as the release date of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 goes, we are afraid you are going to have to wait. So far there’s been no word on pricing either, but you can rely on us to keep you updated when we learn more and get a firm release date.
