Full F1 2020 Features Trailer Reveals All Upcoming Changes

Almost coinciding with the delayed start to this year’s Formula 1 season, the F1 2020 game is launching next week. Codemasters has been working hard to improve on the fantastic F1 2019 game with a wealth of brand new features, cars, and circuits.

Newly Announced Features for F1 2020

The upcoming F1 2020 game has just released a brand new features trailer which you can see below. We’ve also outlined some of the top features to watch out for.

Create your own team

What if there was an 11th team? Well, now there can be with the My Team feature. My Team lets you build your very one F1 team. Hire teammates including some of the biggest names such as Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, or Charles Leclerc.

You’ll have full say on the design of the car from the liveries right down to the engine supplier. Manage everything from car aerodynamics, chassis, durability, and even marketing and brand sponsorships. Once your cars are designed, you’ll be able to test out your new creations before they hit the track.

Split-screen racing

Race against friends with the new split-screen racing mode. While split-screen racing has been around for a while, it looks like it’s finally coming to F1 2020.

2 new circuits

The two new circuits making an appearance in the new Formula 1 season will also appear in the F1 2020 game. You’ll get to race around the new Hanoi and Zandvoort tracks in Vietnam and the Netherlands.

Shorter season options

One of the things F1 2020 wants to do is offer you more flexibility. One way the developers have done this is by offering shorter season options. You can do the original 22 race season or choose a shorter 10 or 16 race option instead. That way you can skip out the tracks you’d rather not play and focus on the ones you love.

F2 integration

With deeper F2 integration, you’ll be able to choose from a full season, half-season or a three-race F2 experience. The F2 2020 season will also be added as a free update later in the year, so that’s something worth watching out for.

Virtual rear-view mirror

Based on player feedback, a virtual rear-view mirror is now included to help players race wheel-to-wheel with opponents.

Customizable OSD

Customizable OSD means you can switch around what you can see on the screen according to your preferences. You’ll be able to change where your rear-view mirror sits and shift your circuit map somewhere else.

Simplified ERS overtake

ERS has been simplified to make overtaking much more realistic. This decision was based on feedback the developers received from Formula 1 drivers themselves. ERS can now be activated by the simple push of a button.

Podium pass

This is a brand new feature which allows you to race, earn, and unlock items. Each season you race will allow you to unlock free customization items by earning XP. This includes cosmetic items such as car liveries, race equipment, and clothes such as helmets and gloves.

It wouldn’t be Formula 1 without a good podium celebration. F1 2020 has included a few more podium celebration animations. While we may not get to see flowing champagne at the real Formula 1 races this year (due to social distancing rules), we’ll definitely see it in the game.

Release Date for F1 2020

F1 2020 is due for release on July 10th, 2020. It’ll be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. You can pre-purchase it on Steam now.
