Superman Star Henry Cavill Builds His Own Gaming PC: Here’s what parts he’s used

PC gaming is perhaps not for everyone. Some people want a simplified and streamlined gaming experience and prefer the plug-in-and-play setup of a games console, or even just enjoy games on their phones or tablets. Not us though, we love tinkering with every aspect of our machines and customizing the hardware and software to precisely suit our needs and preferences. It seems we’re not alone though, as Hollywood Superhero and the star in Netflix’s The Witcher series, Henry Cavill has just built himself a new gaming PC, and documented the process on video for our education and entertainment

In a video posted to his Instagram account, Cavill shows us the process of assembling his new machine, soundtracked by the one and only Barry White. He hit a few hurdles along the way, but for the most part, he did a great job.

He’s blurred out some of the logos and such, perhaps either because he doesn’t want to be promoting these brands when he’s just doing this for fun, or perhaps he doesn’t want anyone to judge him for his choice of parts. With a bit of forensic analysis, we’ve been able to make a good guess at the spec of the build he’s assembled. As far as we can tell, the parts he’s used in his build are as follows:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU

Asus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB ROG Strix Gaming OC GPU

G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) RAM

Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Motherboard

2x Samsung 970 Pro 1 TB SSD

Seasonic FOCUS Plus Gold 750W Power Supply

NZXT KRAKEN Z73 73.11 CFM Liquid Cooler

ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q 27” HDR Gaming Monitor

Fractal Design Define 7 Case

It’s a solid selection of parts, certainly more than capable enough for handling games like The Witcher 3. If you want to match this build, you could play The Witcher how The Witcher plays The Witcher, and if you want to go all-in you should definitely think about installing this Witcher 3 mod to complete the experience.

Fair play to Henry Cavill on this, he’s obviously got some passion for doing this, and it’s a good way to spend your time whilst most TV and Film projects are still on lockdown. The films he’s played Superman in have all been kind of rubbish, with the depiction of Kal-El in films like Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice being extremely dour and morose. But I don’t think we can blame him for that one, he’s a charismatic and charming performer in everything else I’ve seen him in, so I get the feeling that it’s more the writing and the direction that have let those films down. Certainly, he has been well received as Geralt of Rivia, and this showcase of his love for PC gaming is probably only going to help draw that audience in.

I wonder which will be the next celebrity to embrace the PC building and gaming community? I’d love to hear Gilbert Gottfried narrate a video showing him overclocking his system, maybe Cate Blanchett is going to take to streaming League, and I would definitely be there day one for Benchmarking With Beyoncé. Which celebrities would you like to see take up PC building?

Let us know if you’re going to build a system to match Cavill’s, or what you think of his new PC build, in the comments below.
