MSI Announces MEG Trident X Compact Desktop Gaming System

Now that Intel has finally launched its Comet Lake-S processors, it looks like MSI is updating its line of compact gaming rigs to host them.

MSI’s compact desktop gaming rigs are almost console-like slim systems and are designed primarily for gaming. They are part of the MEG Trident X 10th series which includes three models with mid to high-end specifications.

MEG Trident X Specifications

When compared to their previous versions, these new systems from MSI seem to be roughly the same size and weight.

However, to support the latest 10th generation Comet Lake-S CPUs, MSI has had to upgrade the motherboards. These will now use a Z490 chipset.

Buyers can choose an MSI gaming system with either an Intel Core i7-10700K or a Core i9-10900K if you really want the best performance.

When it comes to graphics cards, you’ve got the choice of either an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super or the RTX 2080 Ti. Either will be fantastic for gaming but it depends on how many high-spec games you’re playing.

32 GB of DDR4 RAM is also on offer but there’s the option to upgrade to a huge 64 GB of DDR4 RAM instead if you need it.

In terms of storage, there’s either a single 1 TB NVMe SSD or a combination of 1 TB NVMe SSD + 1 TB HDD to choose from.

Other Features On Offer

Besides the primary specifications listed above, the three models all include 2.5 GbE and WiFi 6 support.

There’s a Nahimic audio enhancer plus Realtek 7.1 HD Audio DAC built-in for your sound system.

Ports include HDMI, DisplayPort video outputs, a selection of 5x audio jacks, Optical S/PDIF out, and Ethernet. USB options include 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C, 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, and 3x USB 2.0 Type A. There’s also a Thunderbolt 3 connector on top of all that.

These systems will also come with a 650 W power supply as well as a bundled keyboard and mouse for all your gaming needs.

If MSI’s RGB lighting is your thing, don’t worry, it makes an appearance on these gaming systems too. There’s RGB lighting on the front of the case and on both the CPU and GPU coolers. All of this can be customized of course.

How Much Will the MEG Trident X Compact Gaming Systems Cost?

From what we’ve seen of these new gaming rigs, they look pretty impressive and will suit any gaming enthusiast who wants a compact gaming rig.

As this is a fairly new announcement, the pricing details haven’t been confirmed yet, although we can’t imagine they will be on the cheaper end of the scale considering their impressive hardware.

However, it does look like we will see the availability of these gaming rigs start to appear in early June which means we should hear more news soon.
