The ASUS ROG Ally is here, and it provides a fantastic portable gaming experience. For this gaming PC on the go, you may want to scout out the best case for ASUS ROG Ally. That’s where we come in. Even though ASUS have already offered up the official ROG Ally Travel Case, there are alternatives out there. We’ll be talking you through ASUS’ primary choice and 3rd-party options available to you.
Between the option for docking, and the portability of the ROG Ally, it proves to be a versatile gaming machine. If you’re going to going to be taking this gaming PC handheld around town (or much further), it’s best to have a travel case or carrying case (or bag) to keep it secure. It also provides a handy place to keep your peripherals and cables neat and tidy, even when it’s just stored at home.
So, if you’ve already figured out where to buy the ASUS ROG Ally, your next step may be sourcing a suitable case to house your device. Unlike the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch handheld console, there are fewer options out there specifically designed for the Ally, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find one.

Best case for ASUS ROG Ally : in-depth review
Now you know our selection, we can inspect them a little closer. Like we mentioned, there aren’t a whole lot of cases out there at the moment purposely designed for the ROG Ally, though you can find many for the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck.
Regardless, many cases designed for the Steam Deck are great for the job, as the Ally is a little smaller (but not as small as the Switch). We can talk about both travel cases or carrying cases to store your ASUS ROG Ally.

- Purposely designed for ROG Ally
- ROG branding
- Water-repellent fabric & scratch-free fleece
- Can be used as a portable stand
- Less storage space than other options
We’re starting off with the official travel case from ASUS themselves. If you’re looking for a case which is designed with the ASUS ROG Ally in mind, there’s currently nothing better than this official accessory. This can be found on the ROG site, but it’s also available over on Best Buy. A good option if you want an official branded product with the ASUS ROG logo as a seal of approval.
ASUS ROG advertise this as great place to keep your Ally safe. The case features soft material and a fleece inner liner to keep the device protected. The outer layer is water-repellent and is fitted with a YKK zipper, while the soft inside layer means the device is free from scratches. One interesting design feature is the fact that the case can be orientated to act like a portable stand, which is a nice little makeshift stand mode. There is a storage compartment too, with microSD slots and a space to house your credit-sized card.

- More than enough space for ROG Ally
- Lightweight
- Plenty of space for peripherals / cables
- Strap included
- Designed for Steam Deck
Although we may list the fact that it’s designed for Steam Deck as a con, it’s really suitable ASUS ROG Ally regardless. It just doesn’t fit as snugly as the official case for example. The key feature of this tomtoc case is the space provided. There’s also the W-shaped design which leaves space for the thumbsticks to avoid pressure being applied to them.
This carrying case has enough space left over to house a dock, charger, and HDMI cables. Like the official case, it features secure YKK zipper, but this time round you benefit from a strap to make it easier to carry around.

You can easily fit in your Ally, 2 game controllers, charger, dock, SD cards, earbuds, and more.
It’s easily the most protective of our choices, providing protection from shaking or bumping. The inside is a soft lining and sponge build to ensure your device is safe and sound. It even features double locking with a padlock for maximum security.

Even though you don’t get ASUS branding, this grey/white case looks nice and clean. Can I use a Steam Deck case for the ASUS ROG Ally?
Considering its age and popularity, there are more cases designed for the Steam Deck. However, if you compare the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG specs, you’ll notice that the ASUS ROG is just a tad smaller, but not by too much. This means it can fit into many Steam Deck cases which were first designed with Valve’s handheld in mind. We’ve left out any cases which are more tailor-made for the Steam Deck’s buttons or thumbstick configuration to avoid any mismatch.
In comparison, the Nintendo Switch console is smaller than the gaming PC handhelds, so it may not be a good idea to try and fit your ROG Ally into a case purpose-built for the Switch. If no further official cases arrive, we expect to see some great third-party choices from the likes of JSAUX in future with incorporate great device protection.
