The GTX 1080 graphics card is one of the strongest graphics cards of the GeForce GTX 10 series, just below the 1080 Ti of course. If you’re looking to find a more modern equivalent to the 1080, then you’re in the right place. If you’re building a gaming PC, it’s always a good idea to pick up some fresh components which have newer technology behind them.
RTX 2060 is equivalent to GTX 1080. RTX 2060 can be described as a middle-range model as well as a premium 1080p GPU. The RTX 2060 was released two generations later, while the performance of the two cards is similar. The RTX 3060 should definitely be considered too if you want something even more recently released.

The GTX 1080 and the RTX 2060 are each more than adequate to support 1080p gaming. They are also able to be used for gaming at 1440p in the event that you’re willing to dial off some of the GPU-intensive settings.

In addition, it is built on the latest technology it consumes 20W less energy than GTX 1080. The TDP is 160W for the RTX 2060 and that of the GTX 1080 is 180W. It may not sound to be a lot, however, but the recommended power supply for the 2060 RTX is 450W and one of the GTX 1080 models is 50W greater.
The one issue is that the RTX 2060 is that it only comes with 6GB of memory. It’s possible that this won’t suffice for games of today However, this limitation can be compensated for by reducing some of the textures and similar settings.
Another option is an RTX 2060 Super, which is somewhat superior in terms of performance to the GTX 1080. But it’s significantly more expensive and it’s not an option for people who have a GTX 1080 price tag to opt for the 2060S RTX.
Another AMD alternative from a more modern generation to also match the 3060, is the RX 6600.

CHECK PRICEIf you don’t mind going for some older hardware, the GTX 1080 is definitely a worthy GPU even today. Despite that, it’s always a good idea to go for more modern graphics cards – especially if you can grab something equivalent (performance-wise) for a similar price.
