Benchmark Sees AMD Ryzen 4800H Hit Desktop-Level Performance When Paired With GeForce RTX 2060

New benchmark results for the Asus TUF gaming laptop sporting an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU suggests the machine is a performance powerhouse. The Cinebench R15 results, picked by Twitter user 9555pro, show a multi-core score of a more than respectable 1,743 points.

The score is impressive when you compare the Ryzen 7 4800H, which features eight cores, sixteen threads, a base clock speed of 2.9 GHz, a boost clock speed of 4.2 GHz, and a 45 W TDP, to the better specifications of the Ryzen 7 2700X desktop CPU. The 2700X has eight cores, sixteen threads, a base clock speed of 3.7 GHz and a TDP of 105 W. It scored 1,801 on a machine armed with an XFX Radeon RX Vega64.

Comparatively, the Ryzen 7 4800H, despite being less powerful, stands its ground surprisingly well against the Ryzen 7 2700X, which bodes well for those tempted by Asus laptops or other manufacturers preparing builds with the 4800H. The Ryzen 7 4800H looks to feather desktop-level performance.

Moving beyond AMD products, the Ryzen 7 4800H fares well against competitor Intel. For comparison, Intel’s Core i9-9880H hit a median score of 1,497.50. Intel’s Core i9-9980HK secure 1,641. In terms of median score, this favors the Ryzen 4800H by a considerable margin.

Aside from better performance, this would place the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H ahead when we compare price to performance. Asus says the FA506IV-AL032T model TUF gaming laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, 6 GB of GDDR6, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB PCIe SSD will be priced at around $1,600. As for models with an equivalent Intel Core i9-9980 processor, we are talking at least $2000.

The lower price and better performance are likely to attract more than a few to builds featuring the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU.
