Monster Hunter: World is a game that puts players inside a large world with a grand scope for adventure. This is a unique RPG that sees players face epic boss battles and a powerful roster of creatures.

The combat is varied and engaging which goes a long way to help make each encounter feel special. The design of the monsters is equally impressive and there are over 45 individual types, each with their own strengths, weaknesses, and fighting style.

With a wide range of weapons to get to grips with, you’ll be spending a lot of time gathering materials dropped from monsters to upgrade them. There is also a strong co-operative focus in Monster Hunter: World and it’s definitely best experienced with friends.

If you want to get the best Monster Hunter: World experience possible, you’re going to want to surpass the recommended requirements and crank up those settings. The recommended settings point towards an AMD Radeon RX 570 and an AMD Ryzen 5 1500X processor but you may want to go one better and invest in a mid-range system for this title.

This huge open-world game has players embarking on a grand adventure alongside their three other companions. The combat is quite varied and each of your partners will have their own set of abilities and fight independently in battle.

This satisfying mix of role-playing and action is best experienced during one of the many boss fights. You’ll encounter hydras, Griffins, and a whole host of other bosses that wouldn’t feel out of place in a Monster Hunter game themselves.

The character design is also great here, your physical attributes will actually have an impact on your gameplay. If you are short, you mightn’t be able to carry as much weight but will be light on your feet. Larger characters will also have their own characteristics too which really makes each playthrough unique from start to finish.

This game has pretty much the same system requirements as Monster Hunter: World, which is unsurprising as it is yet another great Capcom classic. This one is well worth checking out if you want something pretty close to what you’re used to.

If you feel like taking a break from the hacking and slashing of action RPG games, Destiny 2 is a perfect alternative for those who enjoy a solid bit of gunplay. Following on from the success of the first Destiny title, Destiny 2 sees players tackle tough challenges to earn better loot, something you’ll be more than used to in Monster Hunter.

Destiny 2 is also still being actively developed and will continue to see content updates for the foreseeable future. This makes Destiny 2 great value for those who want a fresh experience each time they jump on.

The gunplay in Destiny 2 is also some of the most satisfying to be found in the FPS genre. If you love the style of action you’d see in games such as Borderlands 3, you’re going to have a great time in Destiny 2. This experience is also greatly expanded if you can grab a couple of friends to explore with.

To get the best possible performance in Destiny 2, you’re going to want to upgrade your system a little bit if you’re only used to playing Monster Hunter: World. While some games like Monster Hunter: World are pretty similar in specification, Destiny 2 recommends having at least an AMD R9 390 graphics card and a whopping 105 GB of storage. If you’re starting to run low on space, now would be a perfect time for an upgrade.

Heralded as one of the greatest RPGs of this generation, The Witcher 3 is all about slaying monsters at its core. Yes, there’s political intrigue by the buckets, but as a Witcher, you’ll be going around various towns slaying beasts for coin.

If you’re a fan of exploring massive worlds, there’s so much to see and do in The Witcher 3 that you’ll be going for hundreds of hours. Aside from the monster slaying, there’s a huge emphasis on the story here, with tough choices to be made throughout the game.

If you want to dive into more of The Witcher’s story, it’s well worth checking out the novels that the games were based on – written by Andrzej Sapkowski. There is also a Netflix series to dive into as well, which just shows how popular this series has become.

Although it’s over five years old now, The Witcher 3 still looks stunning on PC and is truly a sight to behold on its highest settings. Make no mistake, The Witcher 3 will push your PC to its limits if you’re using outdated hardware. The official requirements recommend at least having an Nvidia GTX 770 graphics card but to get the best out of the game you’ll want to have an Nvidia GTX 970 or higher if possible.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst styles itself more as an anime-inspired RPG than you may be used to from Monster Hunter: World. If you’re used to mastering a weapon in Monster Hunter, it may take you a while to get used to the fluid combat system in God Eater 2 which allows you to transform your weapon into a shield, gun, or blade on the fly.

These weapons are the best part of the game and you’ll be able to upgrade these using the cells of the monsters you defeat – something that will instantly be familiar to you. There is also a whole lot of content to get stuck into here. There are hundreds of missions you can take part in to help upgrade your equipment.

The graphics aren’t necessarily bad in this title, but they also won’t have your system breaking into a sweat anytime soon. At a minimum, you’ll only need a GeForce GTX 560 for this title which should be easily achievable if you can currently run Monster Hunter: World.

You may already be familiar with the Dark Souls games as these are titles that have a reputation for being pretty difficult. If you can master the combat mechanics though, there’s lots to look forward to here. There are countless enemies, large environments, and huge, challenging boss fights that will often take multiple attempts to clear.

If collectibles are your thing, there are tons of items, trinkets, and weapons that you can find to give you an edge against your enemies. The Dark Souls games also have a deep and rich world that is packed full of stories. These aren’t really handed to you on a plate either, you’ll have to piece things together on your journey to get a complete idea of what’s happening.

As with some of the other games on this list, you’ll need to know that Dark Souls 3 is a tougher game to run than Monster Hunter: World. The recommended requirements ask for a GeForce GTX 970 but if you can’t find one of those in stock, a perfect budget upgrade would be a GeForce 1660 Super. The processor isn’t too much of an issue for Dark Souls, but you’ll want at least an Intel Core i7-3770 to get started.

As Monster Hunter: World isn’t the hardest game to get running these days, you may have to tweak your system a little bit for some of these titles, especially The Witcher 3.
