Tired of the GPU shortage? Well, due to the popularisation of cryptocurrencies, you might find it even harder to find a card when precious foundry bookings are being used to create crypto cards such as the BC-160 from AMD and XFX, which has recently sold in china for over $2000, thanks to its fantastic mining hashrate, which is the number that determines how much of a cryptocurrency you can mine over a certain amount of time.
The AMD BC-160 uses a Navi 12 architecture, with 2560 Stream Processors in addition to 8GB of HBM2 memory that will allow it to mine Ethereum at around 72MHs. However, these cards only require a paltry amount of power, demanding only 150w, which is delivered via two 8-pin PCI connectors. The naming of the device itself denotes that this card is solely for the purposes of ‘Blockchain Computation’, and is likely one of the best cards to market to offer such a power-efficient hashrate, which rivals the RTX 3070, with the added benefit of having a much lower TDP, which ensures power-efficient cryptocurrency mining, meaning that because of the slightly higher price, you might earn the money back quickly due to offsetting the costs with savings in power and performance.
It’s likely that we’re going to see farms of these cards, and some have already started to be assembled if the product listings on Aliexpress are anything to go by.
AMD BC-160 crypto mining card hashrate
The AMD BC-160 crypto mining card from XFX reportedly has a hash rate of around 72MHs, which is fantastic and even beats out cards such as the RTX 3060, 3070 and even AMD’s own RX 6600, which is only topped out at 33 MH/s If this is correct, then the BC-160 will be a fantastic card to use for a mining farm of your own.
AMD BC-160 crypto mining card specifications
With 36 Compute units, 2304 Stream Processors, with a 2048-bit bus supporting 8GB of HBM2 video memory, this 7nm-based Navi 12 card is powered by a PCIe 4.0×16 interface. The current model, purported to be made by XFX boasts a single blower fan and two 8-pin PCI power connectors. But, the TDP of the card is only a paltry 150w, despite its fantastic hash rate.
AMD BC-160 crypto mining card price
Right now, the AMD BC-160 crypto mining card is retailing on Aliexpress for around $2000. This is not an MSRP, and we’ll likely see this price fluctuate based on demand for this extremely efficient mining card. It can also be found for cheaper on Alibaba, but is more difficult to purchase through than Aliexpress.
AMD BC-160 crypto mining card availability
Currently, the AMD BC-160 made by XFX is only available in China, meaning that you will have to import it via Aliexpress, which means that you need to take caution if you choose to import the card, as aftermarket services may be difficult. Additionally, you can also purchase these cards in bulk at Alibaba, where you may be able to get them for slightly cheaper if you purchase them in bulk.
