Intel is expected to provide updates on its upcoming Core Ultra Series 2 mobile and graphics products on October 29th, 2024.
Intel will host its Partner Alliance BaseCamp later this month and the event is intended to provide updates regarding the company’s latest technologies. While, the main focus will be on client products, such as the Core Ultra CPUs and associated graphics units, we expect Intel to provide insights into the next generation of its Arc graphics processors – otherwise known as, Intel Arc Battlemage.
Intel Battlemage desktop GPU reveal could be imminent
According to a post by Intel India on X, Intel’s Partner Alliance BaseCamp will have various sessions and there are a few key topics that the company highlights:
- Intel Client Graphics updates
- Intel Gaudi 3 AI accelerator
- Discover the Next Generation Intel Core Ultra Series 2 Mobile and Desktop Processors
The first one stands out from the rest as we speculate that “client graphics updates” might be a big hint towards Battlemage. With the integrated GPUs for the second generation of Arc already launched, this event could finally reveal a desktop graphics card. Currently, Intel’s Arc graphics lineup is based on the first generation of the Xe architecture called “Alchemist” with various products targeting gamers and professionals.
Rumors indicate that the next generation, built on the new Xe2 architecture, may be released by the end of 2024 and this event might offer the first look at this new product series. Apart from graphic updates, the event will also give us a look into Intel’s next-gen Gaudi 3 AI accelerator – a more cost-effective alternative to other products on the AI market while offering improved performance.
Another topic at the event will be the Core Ultra Series 2 mobile and desktop processors. Intel has already unveiled the Core Ultra 200S processors, set to launch on October 24. However, the event will likely center on the Core Ultra Series 2 laptop processors, specifically the Arrow Lake-HX and Arrow Lake-H variants which will offer great uplifts for laptop users.
What will be Nvidia’s next move with their next-gen Arc Battlemage?
We look forward to what Intel will achieve in the desktop market with their next-gen Arc Battlemage lineup, especially because budget-friendly GPUs are in high demand among consumers. Since NVIDIA isn’t offering much in this area, having more alternatives to AMD at the lower end might be the move. The Xe2 architecture has shown great promise in the Lunar Lake SoCs, and we can expect similar improvements for the desktop lineup compared to the existing Arc A-series family.
