The latest rumours and leaks suggest that the RTX 5090 will have a TBP of 600W and be a beast. It’ll also consume more power than any component, reaching 150W above the current flagship RTX 4090. Does that mean it’ll be 33% faster? We hope so if we need a small power plant to keep the thing running.
RTX 5090 rumored specifications

There’s no denying that the current specifications are impressive, especially when compared to the RTX 4090, but there’s no denying that massive leap in power consumption. It is worth noting, however, that the RTX 4090 was originally rumoured to have a TDP of 600, too, but it ultimately only needed 450W. So we must take these specifications and rumours with a pinch of salt.
Appliances you can power for less than or the same as an RTX 5090
You might be thinking that 600W is a lot of power, and it is, especially for something just that drives pixels on a display. With that in mind, here’s a list of things you can power for 600W or less:
- A small vacuum cleaner (600W)
- A fridge freezer (100W – 300W)
- Washing machine (500W)
- Games console (100W – 200W)
- LCD/LED TV up to 85 inches (35W – 370W)
- 600W microwave (600W)
- Electronic hammer drill (600W)
- Belt sander (600W)
- Angle grinder (600W)
- Cement Mixer (550W)
- Stage speakers (600W)
- Electric strimmer (500W – 600W)
- Water pumps (200W – 300W)
- Food Blender (300W – 400W)
- Garage door opener (300W – 400W)
- Projector (220W – 270W)
- Slow cooker (160W – 180W)
- Rice cooker (200W – 500W)
- Treadmill (280W – 600W)

Even the human brain only consumes around 20W of power, which can do an exaflop of calculations per second. With the total board power of the RTX 5090, you can power 30 human brains. We need a way to plug ourselves into the PC and no longer need GPUs. (that’s probably not true; I’m not a biologist or an engineer).
You get the idea anyway; this was just a funny piece to show that there are many things you can do for 600W and visually show how much power that is. With that 600W budget, you can power several bulbs, a tablet and phone charger, a TV, a Games console, and more.
Either way, we’re sure the RTX 5090 will be the best GPU we have ever seen, and it’s a sight to behold. We can’t wait to get our hands on it.
