This Week In Gaming: Our Top Stories – June 12th

Another week, another roundup of our top stories from across the gaming world!

Destiny 2

Bungie treated us to a hefty announcement video this week filled with reveals on the new Season of Arrivals update, as well as a first look at the next four years of content from the game. They’re bringing in a new kind of damage, new storylines, new locations, and they’re going to start bringing back some content from the OG Destiny days.

There was a lot of information to wrap our heads around from this, so we put it all in one handy article for you. You can also watch the WePC team react to the announcements as they happen with our first ever react video.

Everything We Learned From The Destiny 2 Reveal

Intel’s Tiger King Lake CPU Press Packs Sent Out

With the release date for the new Intel Tiger Lake CPUs creeping ever closer, the first marketing materials were sent out to members of the press. As our social media team so aptly pointed out, they really missed a trick not capitalizing on the Tiger King popularity and instead sent out Lilium Tiger’s Roar seeds.

Team Blue still hasn’t given us an exact release date, but we do know they should be coming soon as they’ve been touted as having a “mid-2020” release.

Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle

Build 2

After it’s release last week, I have been pouring a good many hours into the latest Sims 4 expansion pack, transforming my smoggy neighborhood into an eco dream. I’ve blasted through the new aspirations, become a kombucha-making whiz, and done more gardening than any of my Sims have ever done before. You can read all about my thoughts on Eco Lifestyle in my super fan review coming soon.

Bundle For Racial Justice And Equality

The Black Lives Matter movement hasn’t stopped, and it hasn’t slowed down. And, over at itch.io there’s one hell of a bundle available. Now with over 1000 games included, you can get your hands on all those games for as little as $5 with proceeds being donated to charity efforts helping support the BLM movement. Of course, if you have the cash to spare,  you can choose to pay as much as you like for this worthy cause. I grabbed the bundle myself earlier this week and still haven’t managed to sift through all the games. This is definitely going to be keeping me busy for a while.

Summer Game And Tech Releases

It may not feel like it, but summer is now well and truly here. And what does that mean? It means we’ve got a nice juicy roster of new game and tech releases on the horizon. From Cyberpunk 2077 to Ryzen Zen 3, we’ve been rounding up the releases we’re most excited for. You can check out the full lists below, and make sure to let us know what you’re most looking forward to in the comments.

WePC PSU Calculator Launches

Something that we have been quietly working away on for a while now finally launched this week – our very own PSU calculator! This handy little tool will help work out what PSU you need for your PC build. All you have to do is select your components and it will calculate how much wattage you need. But, that’s not all! It will also provide you with a list of appropriate PSU’s and links to buy them. Handy, huh? We’re very proud of it and we hope you enjoy it.

Online Gaming Events

Thanks to the worldwide outbreak of Coronavirus, all of the usual Summer gaming events and conventions have either been canceled, delayed, or moved online. And, this week more of those very events began hitting our screens. Last week we had the Thermaltake Expo and this week we had IGN’s Summer Of Gaming events.

Once again, we’ve been rounding up all the big announcements for your viewing pleasure, which you can find below. Personally, I’m excited by Metal Hellsinger because who wouldn’t love to play through an FPS game like that with a heavy metal soundtrack?

And of course, the PS5 was revealed in their online showcase just last night. Alongside the unveiling of Resident Evil 8 and Horizon: Forbidden West, we got treated to the look of the brand new PS5 console itself! Check it out for yourself if you haven’t already, but we have also had a look into what you would need to buy in order to make a PS5 matching (or beating) gaming PC!
