The first season of Diablo IV, titled the Season of the Malignant, is finally here, with plenty of new content to keep fans enthralled.

As soon as the new season releases, there will be a new questline, new enemies and new bosses, and new rewards to earn available until the end of Season One.

With the Season of the Malignant starting, you may be wondering, what are the Malignant in Diablo IV? Look no further, we’re here to let you know.

Diablo 4 – What are the Malignant?

The Malignant are a new type of enemy that are infected with Malignancy found in Season One of Diablo IV, a curse that is spreading throughout Sanctuary throughout everything, including:

  • Monsters
  • Humans
  • Demons
  • Spirits

The Malignant will be marked as Malignant enemies, and you can tell not only from the name but also from the growths that will be on them. These monsters have additional power and will be more difficult to beat, but the reward will be worthwhile.

The Malignant will be the source of Malignant Hearts, the new season mechanic that you can socket like gems into jewelry for stronger gear and to unlock Malignant Powers.

Diablo 4 – The Malignant

The curse of the Malignancy is spreading throughout Sanctuary after the defeat of Lilith, infecting all those who come across it. Cormond, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light, is trying to stop it from taking over, but he’s going to need your help.

The Malignant will appear once the new season kicks off in July, ready for you to defeat as you progress through the new story and the new battle pass, with both a free tier and a Premium battle pass tier, where you can unlock cosmetics and use Smoldering Ashes to unlock the season blessings.

All of this and of course, the Malignant themselves, will be available during the first season of Diablo IV.
