LG recently announced big updates to their OLED TV range which were among the top products announced at CES 2023. LG’s most exciting news was the announcement of a wireless OLED TV and we’re awaiting the LG M3 release date. The release date of the LG C3 and release date of the LG G3 are also prominent on our radar.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at what the LG C2’s lack of heatsink means in practical terms.
No heatsink on the LG C2
The LG C2 does not come equipped with a heatsink unlike its big brother the LG G2. Given that the two OLED TVs share the same Evo panel the heatsink is what makes the biggest difference.
The LG G2’s heatsink allows the intensity of the transistor to be pushed higher without heating the TV up. This means that the panel that is shared by the two TVs can be pushed to a higher brightness in the G2.

While this does create a noticeable difference between the two displays, for us it’s not a deal breaker. The LG C2 is an incredibly capable and reliable TV which we’ve raved about since its launch. The C2 is cheaper than the LG G2 which means for a lot of people it’s the better option.
Is the LG C2 good enough; should I buy a TV with a heatsink?
Just because the LG C2 doesn’t have a heatsink, that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth considering. There are plenty of reasons why it’s one of our favorite TVs on the market right now, especially as we look forward to the C3 – as well as LG C2 price drops. Of course, the lack of a heatsink means that the TV can’t push it’s limits higher in terms of brightness, especially when compared to the more high-end LG G2.
The LG C2 is definitely still good enough to make a purchase on right now. If you really have to focus on having superior brightness, check out the LG G2 or perhaps even Mini-LED TVs.
