Among the top product announcements at CES 2023 were the updates LG is bringing to its OLED TV range. The most exciting was the announcement of a wireless OLED TV and we’re eagerly anticipating the LG M3 release date. Also of great interest are the release date of the LG C3 and the release date of the LG G3.

Let’s look a little more closely at burn-in on the LG C2

Burn in on the LG C2

The nature of OLED screens means that they are more prone to burn-in than traditional LCD screens. This is because their excellent brightness levels mean they’re more susceptible to damage. Burn-in almost always occurs when a static image is being displayed at high brightness.

Happily, LG has fitted out their OLED TVs with several features to help avoid, and mitigate burn-in. The main one is the Screen Saver function. This means that if left alone your TV will abandon a static image after approximately two minutes. Another feature is Screen Shift which moves the screen a tiny amount at regular intervals. The last feature LG has packed in is Logo Luminance Adjustment. This feature means the TV can detect static logos on your screen and selectively reduce their brightness to help avoid damage.

Despite all this, there are sometimes cases of burn-in occurring on LG C2s but they are rare. Our thinking is that as long as you take a little care and use LGs recommended features, you’re unlikely to suffer the same fate.

Should I worry about LG C2 burn in?

There’s no reason why you should abandon any plans to pick up an LG C2 OLED TV due to the potential of burn in. LG are one of the leading manufacturers of OLED TVs and have put a ton of time and effort towards reducing the risk of burn in. The risk of burn in is much lower than it was on older displays of the past, and that’s thanks to both advancements in technology and increased effort put towards counteracting the problem.

All features that LG put into their modern TVs that prevent burn in should be utilized, such as the Screen Saver, Screen Shift, and Logo Luminance Adjustment functions we mentioned earlier on.
