Best CPU for New World: Top picks
Because of the game’s massive open-world design and complex graphics options, you will need a rather capable processor to experience it at its best.
What are the CPU requirements for New World?
The developer-recommended processors for New World are the Intel Core i7-2600K and the AMD Ryzen 5 1400. Of course, processors equivalent to and better than the two of these also satisfy the developer-set requirement.
The Core i7-2600K is a 4-core, 8-thread CPU with a maximum clock speed of 3.8GHz. This processor is over a decade old. And, fun fact, it’s only compatible with DDR3 memory.
The Ryzen 5 1400 is also a 4-core, 8-thread processor, but it has a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz.
As you can probably tell, both of these processors are very modest in specs. They allow you to experience New World at 1080p, 60FPS on medium graphics settings, but that’s about it. You may see lag drops in more action-packed scenarios, and that’s certainly undesirable.
If you have a monitor with a higher refresh rate, you’ll need a much stronger processor than the two above. New World is a pretty CPU-intensive title; it places more burden on the processor than most games do. We take this into account when selecting the best CPU for New World.
Here’s our recommendation.
Best CPU for New World – Core i5-13600K
We’re going with the Intel Core i5-13600K in this case. The Core i5 lineup has featured some powerful gaming-oriented processors recently. This one tops them all.
Intel Core i5-13600K

P-cores 3.5 GHz / E-cores 2.6 GHz
Boost speed
P-cores 5.1 GHz / E-cores 3.9 GHz

TDP
125 W / 181 W boost.
The i5-13600K is the very best the Core i5 lineup has to offer at this time, and it’s an exceptional gaming processor that handles demanding titles like New World very well.
The new Core i5-13600K was released in late 2022, meaning it’s still quite fresh and fairly future-proof.
This is a 14-core, 20-thread processor built on Intel’s hybrid core architecture. The CPU die houses 6 larger performance cores with hyperthreading enabled and 8 smaller efficiency cores.
20 threads are more than enough for gaming and even allow you to use your computer as a productivity-focused professional workstation. In addition to high-end gaming, you can engage in multicore heavy workloads content creation, video editing, streaming, and much more.
The processor has a maximum clock speed of 5.1GHz, which makes it excellent for high FPS gaming. For New World, we recommend pairing this processor up with an RTX 3090 or something similar.
The 13600K is a very versatile processor though, and pairs very well with even stronger and weaker cards, although it’s best to stick to something high-end to minimize the inevitable bottleneck that accompanies the use of high-end modern processors.
Something you should note about the 13600K is that it has a 181 W max TDP. You will need a bulky PSU and a decent AIO to make this system work.
