The choice of the best GPU for your computer is largely dependent on your budget as well as the resolution you intend to play games at. With the new gen, we look at what GPU is equivalent to 7900 XTX.
As the flagship of the new RDNA 3 generation, there is a lot of power behind it. But still, you may wonder what the alternatives for it are.
Although you may think it’d compare to Nvidia’s flagship of the RTX 4090, but on price and performance, it is closer to the RTX 4080.
The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX was the first card to launch with AMD’s latest RDNA 3 architecture, joined by its sibling, the RX 7900 XT. Up against RTX 4090 and 4080. NVIDIA used TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process, whereas AMD used the 5 nm and 6nm processes.

AMD chose a hybrid GPU core design that separated its primary graphics compute die (GCD) from its memory cache die (MCD). The first is built on the 5 nm chip and the latter is located on the bigger 6 nm node. This split was done for cost efficiency as well as to fit all important parts (GCD) onto more advanced nodes.
There’s also a substantial cost difference between these two graphics cards. NVIDIA has released its RTX 4080, which has an MSRP of $1,199, while AMD’s RX 7900 XTX is priced at $999.
This puts the AMD card in a good value spot for what it offers. With a better improvement over the performance offered and the value for the price.
Although there are some drawbacks to choosing Radeon over Nvidia. With a lower ray tracing and encoding performance. As these are still falling behind what Team Green can create.
But other than that it is a great choice for gaming performance.
