The Nvidia RTX 5090 release date and RTX 5080 release date has arrived! Both of these cards are landing today (the 30th Jan) and listings are already live on multiple retailers across multiple regions globally. Despite initial concerns, the RTX 5090 has reviewed very well across the board, meaning demand for it will be exceptionally high. Although the raw performance uplift (with upscaling disabled) of the RTX 5080 has been less dramatic over the previous gen (c.10-15%), considering it’s retailing at the same price as the RTX 4080 did and has the added benefit of full DLSS 4 support (which can mean up to double the performance uplift over the previous gen), it’s still a cracking card and we also expect it to sell out very quickly. That being said – follow the links below to find your favoured GPU model and get your fingers on your mice at the release time to make sure you don’t miss out!

RTX 5090 & 5080 release date & price
Both the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are scheduled for release on January 30th, 2025. Limited numbers of Founders Edition models will be available globally. In addition, top manufacturers such as ASUS, MSI, GIGABYTE, ZOTAC, and PNY will produce custom AIB variants. We’re glad to see all of the GPUs releasing (pretty much) all together rather than a single SKU, staggered release.

The RTX 5090 Founder’s Edition comes with a starting price of £1,599 ($1,999), whereas the RTX 5080 Founder’s Edition prices at £979 ($999). We’ve seen that many of the AIBs are priced substantially higher though, even more than normal; you can expect to pay several hundred dollars above the price of the FE variant. The most expensive we’ve seen so far is an ASUS GPU that’s priced at over $3,000. If you don’t grab one of these cards at MSRP, you could end up paying at lot more for it, based on previous scalping and price hike trends, so we heartily recommend you act quickly on the big day! Nvidia RTX 5090 pre order & RTX 5080 pre order status explained
Traditional pre-orders for the RTX 5090 and 5080, where you can purchase the GPU ahead of its official release and guarantee delivery, aren’t going to be an option unfortunately, which means you need to be extra quick when that release time hits. Instead, retailers are offering alternative methods to help buyers secure a card as soon as stock becomes available. For example, Overclockers UK has announced that its so-called “pre-orders” will open on January 30, though this actually just involves signing up for stock notifications rather than reserving a unit in advance. Similarly, retailers like Best Buy provide email or app alerts rather than direct pre-purchase opportunities. Ultimately your best bet to secure one of these cards is just to use this page to open several tabs from different retailers, and be ready to buy as 9AM EST/2PM GMT hits.

How to Secure an RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 on Launch Day
With demand expected to be overwhelming, securing either the RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 on release day will require preparation. To maximize your chances, set up accounts with major retailers in advance and save your payment and shipping details for a quick checkout. Enable stock notifications wherever possible: Amazon, Best Buy, and Scan UK offer alert systems that notify you when the GPU becomes available. Signing up for these alerts gives you a crucial edge when stock goes live. If pre-orders are available, take advantage of them to secure a unit ahead of time. Overclockers UK has already confirmed that pre-orders will open on January 30, while Best Buy and other retailers are offering stock notifications instead. On launch day, timing is everything. Nvidia GPUs often become available at set times: 9AM EST / 2PM GMT has been common for previous releases. Be online well ahead of time and refresh product pages frequently. Using multiple devices or browsers can also increase your chances of securing a card. For those willing to visit a physical store, checking locations like Micro Center in the US or Scan UK’s Bolton store may be worthwhile, as some retailers allocate limited stock for walk-in customers. Arriving early can improve your chances of getting a card before they sell out. Lastly, ensure your internet connection is stable and be ready to act fast, as stock is expected to disappear within minutes of launch.
