While many of the bundles in MW2 offer ‘Pro-Tuned’ weapons and special tracers that can only be acquired through the bundle, these were never really seen as pay-to-win advantages as you could tune the weapon yourself to be the same. The tracers also didn’t offer any sort of advantage outside of looking cool.

However, with the launch of season 3, there were more than just Gulag changes that came to Warzone and DMZ. Players have noticed some new operator bundles in the story that offer a DMZ exclusive bonus effect, and the effects and nothing minor. Being able to spawn in with extra items that players normally have to track down. Needless to say, the community is not too happy with this addition of pay-to-win bundles in DMZ.

DMZ’s Pay-To-Win Bundles

While specific operator skins have always ridden the line of being pay-to-win since they would make your model smaller than others and allow you to blend into the dark better. None have ever gone this far before. DMZ players noticed the new Active Duty operator slots and thought the change seemed a bit odd.

At first glance, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, you just had to select which operator that you wanted to use for your DMZ run. However, something that stood out was the fact that they had shown loadout slots for each operator. For most operators in the game, these slots were empty, thus raising no alarm.

After doing a quick inspection of the shop, players soon discovered what these loadout slots were really used for. They were there to show you which operators came pre-loaded with extra items to take into DMZ.

Loading into a DMZ match with items is nothing out of the ordinary, but normally you first have to earn the gear you are going to take in. These new operators will give you free gear to use whether you earn it or not. Some are a bit less offensive like spawning in with a larger backpack or a gas mask, while others will allow you to spawn in with killstreaks, and Tier-3 armor carriers, and even provide shorter cooldowns for insured weapons.

If these operators were something that you could earn for free through the battle pass for season 3, the outcry wouldn’t be as bad. However, the only way to get these bonuses is to spend some of your cash on new bundles in the store.

Since this discovery, fans have been blowing up social media with complaints and we have not received an official response from Activision yet. However, it shouldn’t be too long before some sort of response comes out since this was an unlisted change for season 3 and is rubbing the community the wrong way.
