Pearl Abyss, the developer studio behind the popular MMORPG, Black Desert has announced a new year celebration event. The Black Desert New Year event offers players the chance to get a tonne of free stuff for simply logging in and playing the game. Moreso, the popular Black Desert’s Joyful pouches of fortune are making a comeback, offering players the chance to get plenty of mystery gifts. Here is everything you need to know.

Black Desert New Year 2022 event

Black Desert’s New Year 2022 event is out now, going live at the end of the Wednesday maintenance (December 29). The event is now live through to January 2022, coming to an end at 23:59 UTC.

While the event lasts, you can redeem a free code and get your hands on some free goodies. When you head over to the redeem code section on your account, you can enter the following code: HAPP-YNEW-YEAR-2022. Those who redeem the code will get their hands on the following items: You will find these items in the in-game mail when the code is redeemed.

  • Blessing of the Old Moon Pack (3 Days) x1
  • Artisan’s Memory x10
  • Aurora Snowflake x10
  • Advice of Valks (+40) x2
  • Kydic’s Crystal – Adventure x1
  • Big Garnier Firecracker Box x1

Moreover, other micro-events are taking place, featuring events like the Hope Filled Aura, Box Full of Wishes, and Ringing in the New Year, each with its event start and end times.

Hope-Filled Aura

The Black Desert Hope-filled Aura event kicks off on December 29 and lasts until January 5. The event will last until before the January 5 maintenance begins. Those who take part in the event can expect a buff called the New Year’s Hope-Filled Aura. The buff provides players higher than level 50 a 22% item drop buff rate. You also need to have at least 20 energy to use the buff before you activate the buff.

Box Full of Wishes

From January 1, 2022, to January 5 (before maintenance), players can participate in the Box Full of Wishes event. It brings in a new quest you can get from the Black Spirit. You get the Wish Lantern quest, which starts a chain to get two new quests. Eventually, the quest will reward you a Box Full of Wishes, amongst other contributions XP. It is worth noting that you need to be level 56 to start the quest chain.

If you complete the quest, Black Desert’s Box full of wishes item offers the following rewards:

  • Caphras Strone bundle
  • Memory Fragment bundle
  • Yona’s Fragment x20
  • Magical Shard x20
  • Sharp Black Crystal x10
  • Hard Black Crystal Shard x10

Ringing in the New Year

The Ringing in the New Year event kicks off on January 1, lasting until January 5. You need to beat challenging monsters through the event to get a chance at the aforementioned Black Desert Joyful pouches of fortune. Each Joyful pouch of fortune drop allows you to return to NPC Lara, who resides near the hill above the Coastal Cave to the west of Velia.

Whenever you hand in on one of the Joyful pouches of fortune in BDO, you can get the following rewards:

  • Gold Bar – 10g x7
  • Contribution XP – 500
  • A choice of the following: Item drop rate + 10% (2 hours buff) +50% Skill XP for 2 hours, or +10% XP for 2 hours.
