OLED gaming monitors are one of the best bits of tech to hit the market over the last few years thanks to their impeccable response times, contrast ratios, and black points. When combined with the ultrawide aspect ratio, they can offer unbeatable immersion in games and other media, although up until recently they have been limited to lower refresh rates when you do go ultrawide, but no longer!

The Corsair Xeneon 34WQHD240-C is a curved ultrawide monitor that uses the latest QD-OLED Samsung panel technology, which can now reach up to a very impressive 240Hz. It not only has impressive specs, but looks great too with its all-white chassis, plus it comes with several other features that caught our attention: read below for all the info!

The panel

As mentioned, the Corsair XENEON 34WQHD240-C comes with a second-gen QD-OLED panel from Samsung, now capable of reaching that very nice 240Hz refresh rate. The screen is glossy, meaning the saturation and contrast really pop when playing games or tv/film, however it does come with a glare-reduction coating to help you more easily view media or text in brightly lit environments.

As with every OLED or QD-OLED screen panel, response times on this bad boy are terrific, and contrast and black points are virtually perfect: ideal for both competitive gaming and visual fidelity.

Warranty & OLED burn-in prevention

One of the very limited downsides of an OLED display is the potential for image burn-in, particularly when viewing media like computer games where you have an ever-present static UI visible on the screen for extended periods of time. Thankfully the latest displays come with various features to help prevent this, and the XENEON is no different. Features include an ‘image retention refresh’ of the pixels which occurs after eight hours of use (lasting about 6 minutes), plus ‘Orbit’ – which shifts the image along by one pixel every three minutes.

If all this wasn’t enough, you get a 3-year warranty that specifically guarantees zero burn-in, plus zero dead pixel cover to boot, which should help give consumers some peace of mind.

The ideal ultrawide for dual-use console gamers

Ultrawide resolution is not supported by the major gaming consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S/X, which means when you play them on an ultrawide monitor you have to put up with black bars on either side of your image to fill out the screen. However, with an OLED display like this one the bars are perfect blacks, with no backlight bleed, so in a darkened room it’s effectively the same as if you were using a narrower display.

The XENEON 34WQHD240-C is fully compatible with the PS5 up to 120Hz 1440p HDR output, with VRR enabled (VRR is supported between 48Hz-120Hz by the PS5): ideal for fast-paced gaming with minimal screen tearing. Xbox compatibility is essentially the same, although technically it will have to output at 4K resolution then downscale to 1440p if you want 120Hz HDR output – though to the user this makes little difference.

A wealth of ports

The monitor comes with a wide array of ports which are placed in an unusual backward facing location, that’s a bit easier to get to compared to the typical placement particularly, given how easily you can swivel the monitor horizontally.

You get a USB-C (5Gbps) socket that has 15W of charging for any device you attach to it, another USB-C (5Gbps) with DisplayPort that has a whopping 65W of charging (enough to power a laptop), four USB-A (5Gps) sockets, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a dedicated DisplayPort 1.4 socket, and a 3.5mm audio out port.

Other features to help improve your productivity

OLED screens aren’t always regarded as the best options for productivity, chiefly because of an effect known as ‘text fringing’ where a slight halo can appear around dark text on a light background, as you’ll usually find when reading an article or document. Fortunately, with the latest QD-OLED panels from Samsung this has been reduced to a barely discernible minimum, meaning the XENEON is perfectly suited to general productivity use when you’re not gaming or watching movies on it.

Other features like Picture in Picture (PiP) and Picture by Picture (PbP) modes help you split up the ample real estate on this ultrawide display, meaning you don’t necessarily need to buy a second monitor as a productivity user. PiP allows you to display the outputs from two different devices simultaneously, be they PCs, laptops, tablets etc. displaying the image of one large across the majority of the screen and the other in a smaller dedicated window that can be positioned in one of the corners. Similarly PbP mode splits the outputs evenly to different halves of the screen.

Proximity sensor OSD

One of the more irritating things you typically have to deal with on a new monitor is getting used to where the control buttons are. Under-display controls are convenient in terms of ergonomics and monitors look better when they’re hidden away, however without obvious signage you can often press the wrong one. The XENEON solves this problem by having a proximity sensor that activates when you move your hand in this arena, switching on visual guides that appear on the display to show you where each button is. The power switch, 4-way joystick, and change input buttons are all easily located as result.

Pricing and Availability

The standard MSRP of the XENEON 34WQHD240-C is £1,199.99/$1,199.99, though in classic Corsair fashion they’ve treated us to a nice $200 price reduction if you buy from their US website. You can also pick it up for 10% off on Amazon US.

The perfect all-white Corsair setup

If you’re not just looking for a monitor but to put together a full gaming setup then Corsair have a plethora of other great products to choose from, first and foremost their range of PC cases, which we highly recommend. Dual-chamber cases with back-connect motherboard compatibility is something that Corsair has made waves with over the last year, and if aesthetics and airflow are something you want to prioritise then the smaller Corsair 2500 and larger 3500 series are both available in white; we had a great time making builds with both. The latter of these we paired with the new iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX RGB AIO cooling system for the CPU, which comes with excellent customisation, RGB, ease of building and cable management thanks to being part of the iCUE LINK range, and of course – cooling efficiency. As with the majority of our builds, we also included RAM (specifically the Dominator Titanium) and 1000e PSU from Corsair, along with supplementary iCUE LINK fans.
