In the world of Counter-Strike, performance is everything. The lightning-fast reflexes, pixel-perfect precision, and split-second decisions that make the difference between victory and defeat all rely on one critical factor: FPS. CS2 benchmark data reveals shocking FPS drops across all maps.

Recently, ThourCS, a prominent figure in the Counter-Strike content creation community, conducted an in-depth benchmark of every map available on CS2 right now, and the results are not in favor of the game or its performance.

CS2 benchmark data – how bad is it?

As reported by ESTNN, the recent updates in Counter-Strike 2 have unveiled a concerning reality – they’ve significantly impacted the game’s performance, particularly in terms of FPS.

On average, FPS has taken a substantial hit across the board, plummeting by nearly 10% following these updates. This pronounced reduction in frame rates has resulted in a less-than-optimal gaming experience for many players. Thour’s CS2 benchmark data reveals shocking FPS drops across all maps.

Among the battlegrounds, Overpass has been hit the hardest, experiencing an average frame rate decrease of around 14%. This substantial drop in performance has left players grappling with issues like gameplay stuttering and reduced responsiveness.

Anubis and Mirage, two longstanding favorites within the CS series, have not been spared from the FPS woes either, experiencing substantial drops of 11.6% and 10.7%, respectively. These maps, which have enjoyed a long history of popularity, are now delivering suboptimal gaming experiences for players.

Dust 2, another beloved map in the Counter-Strike repertoire, has also faced a notable decline, with a frame rate drop of approximately 13.49%. This sharp decrease in FPS has left players yearning for the smooth, fast-paced action they once enjoyed on this iconic map.

Inferno, while relatively less affected compared to the others, still witnessed a noticeable dip in frame rate, with a decrease of 7.99%. This change has not gone unnoticed by the discerning Counter-Strike community, which has come to expect consistent and smooth performance on this map.

Vertigo, Nuke, and Ancient have also seen declines in frame rate, with drops of 8.47%, 9.62%, and 9.89%, respectively.

These reductions in performance have stirred considerable discussions among players and have raised legitimate concerns about the overall optimization of the game.

Here is the table that ThourCS published for transparency, they also released the PC specifications that they used to perform the test:

These benchmarks were conducted on the following hardware:

As you can see, the specifications more than exceed the minimum requirements to run CS2, so hardware incompatibility is definitely not a factor in these benchmarks.

Will the CS2 FPS issues be fixed?

While the recent FPS drops in CS2 are undoubtedly concerning, it’s essential to remember that game development is an ongoing process.

Developers are continually working to improve and optimize their titles, and issues like FPS drops are often addressed through patches and updates.

Players can take some solace in the fact that the CS2 development team at Valve is likely aware of these problems and is actively working on solutions. The gaming community’s feedback is a valuable resource, and it’s crucial for players to continue reporting issues and providing constructive criticism to help improve the game.

In the meantime, CS2 enthusiasts may need to exercise patience as they navigate the less-than-optimal FPS landscape. It’s a challenging period for the game, but with the dedication of both the developers and the player base, there’s hope that Counter-Strike 2 will eventually regain its former glory and offer the thrilling, high-performance gameplay that fans have come to expect.
