Destiny 2’s Bungie 30th anniversary event is out now. Fans of Bungie can jump into the Destiny 2 event as both free and paid players, getting the chance to grab new content. There’s new halo inspired weapons, which was teased days ago. One of the things you can get if you bought the Bungie 30th anniversary event is the Gjallarhorn, one of the best weapons from Destiny 1.

If you want to get your hands on the Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn, you’ll need to buy the Bungie 30 Anniversary pack. If you get that pack, then you can head into the game and jump right into unlocking the Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn and Gjallarhorn Catalyst.

How to Unlock the Gjallarhorn

To get your hands on the popular Destiny exotic Rocket Launcher, then you’ll need to initiate the questline. Head over to Xur’s Treasure Hoard, and get your hands on the And Out Fly the Wolves quest. The quest takes you down eight different steps, but it’s nothing a trained space fairing soldier with superpowers can’t handle.

The quest will take you to a new character called Shaw Han, located in the cosmodrome, next to the landing pad. Shaw tells you to go and complete the new Grasp of Avarice dungeon, which is another paid feature of the new Bungie 30th Anniversary event revealed only a few days ago. Go get yourself a Fireteam and shoot up some cosmonaut oligarchs and what other baddies lurk around.

Once you’ve completed the dungeon, that is one of the hardest parts down. You’ll travel back to the Shaw Han and hand in dungeon related items to the quest giver. After that, you’ll be sent on a killing spree around the cosmodrome, killing Fallen in the Exodus Garden. Kill the required amount and head back to the quest giver. Then you’ll get told about a whole new Gjallarhorn and how to reforge the iconic exotic weapon and various parts of it.

Throughout the Cosmodrome, players will need to take out Fallen hideouts. The lost sector is filled with Fallen Enemies. Take out the hideouts and you’re one step away from getting the Gjallarhorn. At some stage of the quest process, you’ll even visit the Banshee Tower, and you’ll get sent back to the cosmodrome for more quests. Follow these steps and the questline to get your hands on the various parts you need to craft the Gjallarhorn.

Return to the Shaw Han, and you can get the next quest to build the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher at a workbench in a room opposite him. Simply go to the workbench and construct your new Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn exotic rocket launcher. Congratulations!

How to upgrade your Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn Catalyst?

The Catalyst is an important part of the Gjallarhorn’s strength. When you finish the quest, you’ll get another one to go and retrieve the Gjallarhorn Catalyst. It requires you to go back into the Grasp of Avarivce dungeon, so get yourself a fireteam and set forth.

When you get into the dungeon, you’ll find it is slightly different from your last escapade. There are new hostiles in the dungeon, featuring Reaver Vandals. When you kill these enemies, they drop exotic engrams, granting you a debuff that kills you when the timer runs out. To remove the debuff, you need to find a chest, scattered around the dungeon. Open a chest and you’ll lose the debuff. When you get all the engrams, you’ll need to dunk them into the dungeon’s final chest, which grants you the Gjallarhorn Catalyst.

Finally, you’ll need to kill enemies with the Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn before you complete the Gjallarhorn’s Catalyst. It is like other exotic catalysts, which take many kills before you complete them. It should take several hundred kills, but it might be a little more or less. All we know is it is a bit of a grind.

And that’s the gist of the Destiny Gjallarhorn Catalyst. There are a few more things to get for the Gjallarhorn, but that is all personal preference, such as the ornament. If you want the exotic ornament, you need to get yourself the Richest Man Alive triumph, related to the new cosmodrome lore from the event. You’ll also need to go back into the Avarice dungeon for the third time and collect treasures and lore entries.
