If you’re a Destiny 2 fan, you, amongst thousands of others, have high expectations for the latest expansion in the franchise – The Witch Queen.

This new adventure looks to delve deep into Savathun’s Throne World to uncover many a secret that the Hive God is keeping as well as uncovering new truths about how Guardians came to be. Thanks to the all-new ViDoc dropped by Bungie, we’ve got some exciting new information about what’s to come in The Witch Queen as well as the first season of the new expansion – Season of the Risen.

The Witch Queen Campaign

The Witch Queen campaign is being touted as the most ambitious Destiny 2 campaign to date. Everything has been taken to a new level, new enemy types, new weapons, and tieing up story beats that have been strung along since the original Destiny game. All of this, along with finally finding out what Savathun is truly up to is certainly setting the stage for a huge year for Destiny 2.

You will team up with Empress Caiatl, Leader of the Cabal from Season of the Chosen to take on Savathun’s ‘undead army’, facing, and destroying her Lightbearers. This is no mean feat, though, with said Lightbearers mimicking your abilities and potentially killing you in one shot. Oh, and if you do succeed, you’ll get the chance to destroy some Hive Ghosts.

You’ll obviously experience an incredible story in The Witch Queen but there’s also a whole new difficulty level being introduced – Legendary. This will be added for you to ‘Become Legend’ and provide a truly difficult experience akin to that of the many Raids introduced throughout the many years of development.

Weapon Crafting

Weapon crafting is a whole new element that is being introduced in The Witch Queen and we’ve already seen some details on how this is implemented. Now, however, we’ve got a load more information including a closer look at the Glaive and how the upgrades work.

As you progress through The Witch Queen campaign, you look to create your very own Glaive, adding new pieces to the new weapon archetype. One can assume that post-campaign completion, you’ll be able to then craft weapons at will, shaping them to your own personal play style. You’ll be able to modify current weapons as well as create new ones from scratch so don’t empty your Vault quite yet.

Void Subclass Updates

In Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Void subclasses are getting a pretty beefy update. All Guardians will get a new update to their Void subclass, enhancing a bunch of different abilities.

For Titans, you’ll be getting a new barrier, giving other Guardians an overshield, key in the heat of battle. Warlocks, you’ll be able to summon a ball of Void energy and aim at an enemy to suck out their lifeforce. Finally, for hunters, there were no real announcements but it was implied that you would see the true potential of the Nightstalker.

Both Solar and Arc subclasses will get an update also in due course.

The Witch Queen Exotic Weapons

As with every expansion, new Exotic weapons are being introduced to mix things up in both PVE and PVP. This time around, there are eight Exotic weapons being added to Destiny 2 all having their own advantages in the heat of battle.

Here are all the new announced Exotic weapons in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen:

  • Grand Overture – Slug Launcher
  • Parasite – Worm Launcher
  • Osteo Stiga – Primary Submachine Gun
  • Titan Glaive: Edge of Action
  • Warlock Glaive: Edge of Intent
  • Hunter Glaive: Edge of Concurrence
  • Two more weapons with names yet to be revealed

The Witch Queen Exotic Armor

Of course, alongside Exotic weapons, there has to be some Exotic armor to counteract them. There are six pieces of armor being added in The Witch Queen, two for each Guardian class with one being Stasis based and one not.

Here are all the new Exotic armor pieces in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen:

  • Hoarfrost-Z – Titan Exotic
  • Osmiomancy – Warlock Exotic
  • Blight Ranger – Hunter Exotic
  • Three more pieces of armor with names yet to be revealed

There’s no question that there’s a whole host of great things to come in The Witch Queen and beyond With the recent PlayStation acquisition of Bungie, there certainly won’t be any signs of slowing down both with Destiny 2’s content and what’s to come with the yet to be announced new IP.
