GT7 players have been heard, as Race Payouts will seemingly be increased once again in a future patch. There will also be more changes to the in-game currency system, and a credit bonus for all active players.

In a statement posted on the PlayStation blog today, March 25, 2022, developers Polyphony Digital has made an apology for last week’s patch. March 17 update 1.07 not only caused server outages, but also resulted in massive player backlash as race payouts were heavily reduced. But it seems the community has been heard, as payouts are seemingly getting a buff in a future update, and GT7 players will be granted a one-off bonus of one million Credits by way of an apology.

In order to make cars more affordable again and give players the ability to earn Credits faster, a few changes to the Gran Turismo 7 currency system are in the pipeline. Some immediate changes are planned for a large update in early April, with other changes coming into effect at a later date. The blog post confirms the following changes for the early April patch.

  • Increase rewards in the events in the latter half of the World Circuits by approximately 100% on average.
  • Addition of high rewards for clearing the Circuit Experience in all Gold/All Bronze results.
  • Increase of rewards in Online Races.
  • Include a total of eight new one-hour Endurance Race events to Missions. These will also have higher reward settings.
  • Increase the upper limit of non-paid credits in player wallets from 20M Cr. to 100M Cr.
  • Increase the quantity of Used and Legend cars on offer at any given time.

From there, the next set of changes will come into effect at an as yet undefined date. Polyphony Digital suggests keeping an eye on gran-turismo.com for updates, or the official Gran Turismo Twitter feed.

  • Increase the payout value of limited time rewards as we develop as a live service.
  • Further World Circuit event additions.
  • Addition of Endurance Races to Missions including 24-hour races.
  • Addition of Online Time Trials and awarding of rewards according to the player’s difference with the top ranked time.
  • Make it so cars can be sold.

How to get the GT7 one-million Credit payout

All players who log in to Gran Turismo 7 before April 25, 2022, will be granted a bonus of one million Credits to make up for the reduced payouts. You don’t need to do anything other than log in to earn the credits, and they’ll appear in player accounts “shortly.” These things usually take a little time to roll out to everyone, so we’d suggest being somewhat patient if you don’t see your funds immediately.

When will the changes come into effect?

According to the official statement, a “significant patch” will be rolled out at “the beginning of April.” There is specific date as yet, but given that GT7 updates so far have usually been pushed out on a Thursday, this patch may come on or around April 7th, 2022.
