Latest update (June 28th, 2022): The Madden NFL 23 closed Beta has officially ended.

The Madden 23 closed Beta has been available for a couple of weeks now, giving players access to Play Now and H2H ranked.

In the Gridiron notes, you may have noticed several other modes were coming to the closed Beta, and in a recent update Franchise Mode was finally added, with more to come.

Those lucky enough to receive a Madden 23 Beta code have now had extensive hands-on time with the new title and get to experience ‘FieldSENSE’.

For those unaware, FieldSENSE is a massive feature that goes a long way to make the whole game feel the most realistic ever. It’s an all-new foundation for ultra-realistic gameplay and equips players with more control at every position, producing authentic results in every play.

What’s included in the Madden 23 closed Beta?

  • Play Now
  • H2H Ranked
  • Face of the Franchise: The League
  • The Yard
  • Superstar KO
  • Franchise Mode
  • Squads/Multiplayer for The Yard
  • Squads/Multiplayer for Superstar KO
  • Madden Ultimate Team

Some of the above may not be available in the Madden 23 Beta just yet but rest assured, they are coming.

Madden 23 Beta Franchise Mode

Franchise Mode was recently added to the Madden 23 Beta, giving those with a code a chance to delve into the highly popular game mode.

The Closed Beta is being extended until 12PM ET on June 27th, giving those lucky enough with a code more time to fully experience Madden Ultimate Team.

How to access the Madden 23 Beta

You’ll be able to redeem the code sent to your EA Account email through the PlayStation or Xbox storefront on your console.

For PlayStation 5:

  1. Go to Settings, then Users and Accounts
  2. Select Account, then Payment and Subscriptions, and then the Redeem Codes option
  3. Enter the code and select Redeem

For Xbox X|S:

  1. Go to the Microsoft app
  2. Choose Redeem
  3. Enter the code

” When participating in the Madden NFL 23 Closed Beta, please refrain from recording, streaming and/or capturing any portion of the closed Beta. Doing so will result in removal from the closed Beta as well as complete bans on all Madden NFL accounts.”

How to download the Madden NFL 23 closed Beta

To Download Madden NFL 23 Closed Beta to your console, please follow the instructions below:

To Download on Playstation: 

  • Use your existing Sony Entertainment Network account on PSN™.
  • Select the PlayStation®Store icon on the system home screen.
  • Select Redeem Codes at the bottom of the menu on the PlayStation®Store.
  • Enter the code and get ready to play.

To Download on Xbox: 

  • Go to Games under Store.
  • Select Use a Code. 
  • Sign in if prompted.
  • Select or enter the 25-character code and get ready to play.

Madden 23 closed Beta known issues

Known Issues with Gameplay:

  • Mid-Air collisions at the catch point not triggering frequently enough
  • Man Coverage defenders frequently play fakeout animations when covering Curl and Comeback routes 
  • HB Slip Screen does not work appropriately due to the RB delay being too long
  • Aggressive catch mechanic doesn’t respect player-input in some specific situations
  • Player ratings impact to Skill Based Passing is not final
  • Skill based passing Reticle snaps back when the user releases LT so the user is unable to place it and leave it
  • Underneath Zone defenders are breaking too quickly on intermediate and deep routes
  • Pass Rush Non-Engaged Super Win animations are triggering too frequently on All Pro and All Madden
  • Sometimes Catches do not sync up appropriately when throwing to Tight Ends on Flat routes
  • Defenders in play ball situations sometimes obstruct the receiver from getting to the ball and do not make a play on the ball
  • Running backs sometimes get caught up in the line when going out on a route and do not play an avoidance or a Chip block animation

Note: The NFL Player and Rookie Ratings throughout the Madden NFL 23 Closed Beta have been scrambled and are not final.

You can give Feedback on the Madden NFL 23 closed Beta

Madden 23 developers want to share a few best practices to keep in mind when coming across issues or giving feedback in general. EA stated that you should keep in mind the more detailed information you can provide when reporting issues, giving their team a better chance to address them.

Below are some questions EA posted in their Gridiron notes to think about when reporting an issue or providing feedback:

  • What platform are you playing on?
  • Where specifically did you see the issue? 
    • The following details are extremely important:
      • Game Mode
      • Game Style (Arcade, Simulation, Competitive)
      • Game Difficulty
      • Teams Used
      • Playbook Used
      • Play call – If a specific play is not applicable, what kind of playcall are you seeing? (e.g. Screen, Play Action, Outside Run, Inside Run, etc.)
      • Any adjustments used during the play?
      • If applicable, what buttons did you press?
  • If you’re playing Franchise, are you playing an offline or online Franchise file?
  • Were you doing anything specific in-game? Is this a repeatable issue?
  • What did you do prior to identifying an issue?
  • What game settings are you using? Did you change any settings at any point?
  • Have you seen the issue before?

Madden 23 release date

The Madden 23 release date is set for Friday, August 19, 2022.

Who can play the Madden 23 beta?

As this is a closed beta, Madden 23 is only open to a limited amount of players in North America for the PS5 and Xbox X/S.

How do you get a Madden 23 Beta code?

EA Account holders need to check their emails for a chance to get access, or alternatively, be one of the lucky select few of current Madden players to be chosen.

Madden 23 Beta end date

The Madden 23 closed beta is June 27th, 2022. It was extended to give players more time in Franchise Mode.

Now in order to play the game you will have to wait until it release. If you buy the premium version of the game you will get 72 hours of Early Access, while there is also a trial on EA Play for members, that usually comes out a week before the game. The trial is ten hours long.
