AMD looks set to release three brand-new Zen 3 CPUs, with motherboard support pages added for both ASUS and MSI.
As reported by leaker @momomo_us, AMD looks to be planning the launch of three brand new Zen 3 CPUs; Ryzen 3 5300G (which comes with an iGPU), Ryzen 5 5600T, and Ryzen 5 5600XT. While nothing has been officially confirmed by AMD, major motherboard manufacturers like ASUS and MSI have already added support for these upcoming processors to their existing X570 and B550 chipset motherboards.
Motherboard manufacturers add support for new Zen 3 CPUs
Currently, MSI and ASUS have added these upcoming processors to their X570 and B550 motherboard compatibility sections, but both brands offer different support options. MSI has not listed the AMD Ryzen 5 5600XT but has included the 5600T edition, while ASUS has added support for both variants.
Other motherboard manufacturers like Gigabyte and ASRock haven’t yet updated their CPU support lists, but we expect them to make a move soon. In addition to the 500 chipset motherboards, we anticipate that older 300 and 400 series motherboards will also support these upcoming chips, as they already work with the Ryzen 5800XT and 5900XT. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.
Preliminary specifications for the new Zen 3 CPUs
The Ryzen 5 5600T looks to feature 6 cores and 12 threads, with a base clock of 3.5 GHz, maximum boost clock of nearly 4.6 GHz, and 32MB of L3 cache. The CPU has already been tested, with benchmarks posted on Geekbench. We did note that the description shows that the test was conducted using the Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO motherboard, suggesting that the CPU might work out of the box with existing X570 boards from Gigabyte.
On the other hand, the Ryzen 5 5600XT is said to feature a higher base clock of 3.8 GHz, the same 32 MB of L3 cache, and a TDP of 65W. The 5600XT will be 100 MHz faster and is expected to be the fastest 5600-series chip in the AM4 lineup. No specifications have been revealed yet for the Ryzen 3 5300G, which is expected to be a 4-core CPU featuring Radeon Vega graphics.
AMD working with Zen 3 architecture alongside the upcoming Zen 5-based chips
In terms of pricing, we don’t have any information yet, not even rumored data and AMD has not shared details about the availability of these three new Zen 3 CPUs. However, considering the actions of motherboard manufacturers, we believe these processors should arrive sooner rather than later. AMD will also be announcing its next-gen Ryzen 7 9800X3D in the coming days, but alongside the Zen 5 architecture, the company plans to keep the Zen 3 and AM4 platform up and running for a while longer.
