During a time where the world went into lockdown, we all became acutely familiar with Zoom and various other communication services. If you didn’t have a video call that started by ‘Can you hear me?’ or ‘You’re on mute!’ then you’re one of the lucky ones. These calls became second nature to a whole lot of us, familiar territory, some might say. We would celebrate birthdays through our screens, see family members via video calls and have our obligatory weekly catch up with friends and loved ones.

What’s that whole saying about art imitating life or vice versa, well a new game might lend further credence to that saying. As we were all growing used to our lives indoors, only seeing each other via our screens, Wales Interactive and Good Gate Media have been cooking up a particular game. Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus is a live-action choose your own adventure mystery FMV game.

Shot during the largely global lockdown, this game was crafted during the midst of the pandemic. With the team helping to make this game stretching from London to Los Angeles.

Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus? Plot

So what’s the plot? Well, as with any murder mystery, there’s a murder and a mystery. In fact, most of the promo around the game leaves a lot to wonder. A good choice in marketing, considering the whole premise involves the mystery and slowly uncovering what’s happened. What we do know is someone has poisoned Uncle Marcus, and throughout the game he’s slowly dying. You play as Abby, the only one Marcus trusts, trying to figure out which one of your family members has poisoned him and hopefully you can save him in time.

Somewhat reminiscent of Knives Out, this bright and colourful game is all about weeding the killer out of your family.

This feature game is set to release on the 18^th of March on PC & Mac (via Steam), iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
