Blizzard has announced that World of Warcraft Classic fresh is happening. The new WoW Classic fresh is called the Season of Mastery, which introduces a bunch of changes that make it drastically different to the Classic WoW launch of August 2019. While we know when WoW Classic launched, we only know the WoW Classic Season of Mastery release date is ‘coming soon’.

What is WoW Classic Season of Mastery?

Like with WoW Classic 2019, the new fresh Classic WoW Season of Mastery has six different phases, but there are significant changes coming to them. The Season of Mastery is going to be a 12 month programme, greatly accelerating the content experience of Classic WoW and more. Here is what you can expect from the WoW Classic Season of Mastery.

Phase 1 (WoW Classic Season of Mastery Launch)

  • Molten Core
  • Onyxia
  • Maraudon
  • PvP Honor System and Battlegrounds (up from Phases 3 and 4)

Phase 2

  • Dire Maul
  • Azuregos
  • Kazzak

Phase 3

  • Blackwing Lair
  • Darkmoon Faire
  • Darkmoon deck drops begin

Phase 4

  • Zul’Gurub
  • Green Dragons

Phase 5

  • Ahn’Qiraj War Effort begins
  • Ahn’Qiraj raids open as the war effort dictates

Phase 6

  • Naxxramas
  • Scourge Invasion

Obviously, the biggest change is the PvP changes. Phase 2 is when the honor system went live. However, it dropped without battlegrounds, causing some incredibly hilarious yet tedious battles at flight points across Azeroth and on the Menethil Harbour docks. The change allows players to get the honor system going straight away, allowing players who want to honor grind the opportunity to do so from day one.

Furthermore, changes are coming to world bosses and the meta. The WoW classic World Buff meta is dead in this fresh classic WoW experience. There is no Chrono boon, as World Buffs are turned off by default in raids. It looks like you can still use them in the open world, PVP, and dungeons, though.

Also, Blizzard has revealed that the WoW Classic Season of Mastery also features 60% increased experience and a greater focus on quest XP. This makes it less likely you’ll need to dungeon grind as world levelling is significantly more.
