The Ryzen 5 7600 is one of the new CPUs announced during AMD’s keynote at CES 2023. AMD made many exciting announcements at CES, including the new X3D 7000 series CPUs. Unfortunately, the new lower-powered CPUs are somewhat overshadowed by these X3D variants. We’re here to shed some light on the new efficient CPUs, specifically the Ryzen 5 7600, so we have to ask. Is the Ryzen 5 7600 worth it?

Now read: AMD at CES 2023.

AMD’s 7000 series already consist of full-power X variants, but at CES 2023, that all changed. AMD has now introduced the Ryzen 5 7600, along with two other none X CPUs. The 7700 and the 7900. We’re here to see if picking up one of these lower-powered CPUs is worth it.

Ryzen 7 7600 specs

The Ryzen 5 7600 hasn’t been released yet, but AMD has released some specifications regarding the 7600. Here are the specifications as AMD states them:

  • Architecture: Zen 4
  • Core count: 6
  • Thread count: 12
  • Base speed: 3.8GHz
  • Boost speed: 5.1GHz
  • Cache: 32MB
  • TDP 65W

As you can see, the specifications of the Ryzen 5 7600 state the TDP as 65W, which is incredibly low considering the 7600X, its bigger brother, consumes well over 105W.

Is Ryzen 5 7600 worth it?

The Ryzen 5 7600 is obviously a lower-power version of the 7600X, as the specs dictate. But why would you want a lower-power version of a CPU?

Well for one, the CPU will be cheaper. It’s no secret that the cost to upgrade to AM5 is expensive right now. Coupled with rising inflation, it’s just not the best time to upgrade. A less expensive CPU will help ease the expense of that upgrade somewhat. So it might be the way to go if you’re on a budget.

Energy prices are on the rise, meaning you probably don’t want to be spending a massive wad of cash trying to keep your PC powered. A more efficient CPU (a CPU with a lower TDP) will help massively keep costs down, and help to save you money. A CPU with a lesser TDP does not need as drastic of a cooling solution to keep cool. So you can probably get by with the stock cooler on this one.

The CPU is worth it if you fall into either of these categories, whether it’s a stepping stone to reduce upgrade costs or an environmental move. To properly make a decision we’re going to have to see how the CPU performs compared to its bigger brother, the 7600X.

But as for right now, we’d say the CPU has its uses.

Ryzen 5 7600 launch date and price

The release date for the Ryzen 5 7600X is set as January 10th, 2023. And is set to cost around $229, that’s $70 cheaper than the 7600X.
